http://imgur.com/a/iKG4B The first picture is the problem, the second is how it should be. I have a dark room with red spot light, but every time I am in the room, the room is extremely dark but when I noclip a little bit further, the light is fixed and not extremely dark. Is it a overlapping shadow error?
have you tried doubling the amount of ligts but reducing the brightness by a 1/3

Just tried it, doesn't work. Although I do have a light_environment on the map, could that be a problem?
edit: Nevermind, I've tried cutting the light_environment and it's still happening.

All I know for a fact is that there's a huge shadow overlapping.
in the ligt entity have you set linear to 1 and quadratic to 0
edit
show a pic of the lighting entites in Hammer 2d views :)
I found the problem, but it's strange. Before I rename (name="") the light entity it works perfectly fine, after I rename the entity (name="darkmaze_lights") then problem occurs.

Anyway around this issue?

Don't name the lights. It's screws up the lighting if you name them. Also don't use the effects (eg "Flicker") on the lights.
