I have never done this before and it tells me that all the files that end with vmt and vtf are not allowed by white list. but i know its possible to upload textures. does anyone know how
i want to upload the textures to the workshop not zip them with the map

What game? I didn't pakrat them for GMod workshop map

You are not helpful at all.
Workshop addons need to be in the traditional addon folder format, just like working with custom textures in a source game.
ie. your materials would be placed in
[code]addon/materials/material.vtf
addon/materials/material.vmt[/code]
and then you would upload that folder to workshop.
Should look something like this:
