Hi guys, so I've recently started to branch out a little bit with my mapping. I stuck to CSS/EP2 for ages but recently I used TopHattWaffles' downloads to get a couple of extra water and a bunch of "realworldtextures" for use in my workshop files. I only just realised lately you can actually put materials/models in your workshop folder and it will compile within the workshop file so you don't really need to pack it into a map, as the GM extractor does it for you anyway.
But are there any websites you use? I like TopHattWaffle's website for its tutorials and some resources that are super handy. But I'm unaware of any other good ones. I'm looking for models to improve my maps; foliage, detail props, all sorts, as long as it's designed for Source I'm not really bothered; at least it will be correct height that way lol.
So, have you any? This can be a general "Resources" thread. References, models, maps, whatever.
[DEL]god forbid I mention gamebanana[/DEL]
In terms of resources, you're looking at one of them. There's a lot of great resources you can find in the Garry's Mod sections as well as in this forum. You'll have to do some digging for it.
Other than that, your best bet is finding a dedicated forum for the game you're mapping for. TF2Maps is a great example for TF2.

Site's dead now, but there's still a bunch of useful models and textures on there.

Is it safe to presume that they are made for Source?

90% of them are. Some are just raw models. There's a small info-box on each individual model page that tells you what engine they're for.
TF2Maps.net occasionally releases content packs, usually for contests and what not. The most recent one they pushed if for the community Mayann update and has some nice stuff in it. Content wise I usually extract gma's or, to be honest do archive searches on google and what not. That's how I've gotten quite a bit of nice custom content. Gamebanana also occasionally has mapping resources but they're harder to come by. Also, while a bit unethical you can extract custom content from source engine mods for use in your maps, if you do I'd pay respects of course.
That's all I got content wise, but tutorial and community wise TF2maps.net is your best bet for TF2 mapping, MapCore is easily one of the biggest CS:GO hubs, but they also support other games but CS:GO is easily the most popular for that site. Interlopers and Half-wit 2, (The later offline, but archived extensively on google and the internet archive) are great tutorial sites and often include vmf's of the logic/theory they're demonstrating. And of course as wauterboi mentioned Facepunch is a great mapping resource.
Can CS:GO assets be used in Source (specifically for EP2 mapping)?

No, you can't mix and match content between engine builds, hence why L4D and later aren'r usable in GMod

You can use a tool called VTFVer to change the newer texture types to the older ones that EP2 uses, and there are other tools that will fix the models as well.

Left 4 Dead assets defiantly are usable in Gmod. Maybe your thinking about the maps?
I'm talking about models.
What I'm needing is trees, and grouped trees too. There used to be a pack on gmod.org but time has long since passed and I can not find it
