Well, the ideea matured a bit from the notion that when you cut a tree you leave a stump that will decay after a while and then be available for harvesting. Here it is
You fell a tree, harvest the log. The stump is unaccesible for a time.
The stump, left alone will sprout nearby a small tree after a time, which will grow in time to full tree.
That same stump will decay and can be harvested (when there is that new tree nearby). At that time, you can harvest the stump and the small tree ( if you wish) and that tree will never grow again there (if you want a baren spot)
I believe this could be done, and will alleviate the barren look after long periods. Even small trees would break that look, and provide some cover, and warn about a big base nearby.
I haven't played enough to get a feel of this but I think ingame a stump could grow back a tree in say 90 game days. Too fast compared to nature but this is a game after all.
Well, you could make old trees fall down and become available for easy harvesting and populate the server with all ages of trees and let there be a semblance of nature.
all on a lot more. I think they will do. This is true. from the stumps we will harvest a tree. you understand? in the legacy the trees did not disappear. they stood. and when the tree ended. there was no tree in it. or they can make a prey by 1 unit. from hemp. and the tree itself will disappear) like this. everything is simple.
In Legacy that was very big drawback, because the player was forced to pass the entire map in the hope of finding at least a stock of timbers. Although at the same time around there were trees...
