Hello everyone, since the latest update (January 4th) rust has been extremely unstable. To summarize things: Until the update I have played this game without any issues except some heavy fps drops from time to time, but right after the update it constantly crashes, the computer restarts itself or just freezes and I have to manually restart it. Only error that I got so far was the d3d11.dll access violation. My system: OS: Win 10 64-bit CPU: i7 4770 @ 3.4GHz (3.9Ghz Turbo mode at auto settings) GPU: GTX 760 SC (2 GB) RAM: 16 GB DDR3 Storage: Both SSD and HDD (Installed on only one at a time) HDD with 0% fragmentation (As updates caused fragmentation and fps drops were intense after updates, with great performance improvement after using defraggler) Graphical Settings: Played for months on “Good” settings at 40~60 fps (excluding fps drops that would go as low as 20) Also played for a while on “Fantastic”, but fps drops were constant during combat and highs were, for most of the time, below 50. Things that are not the problem: Temperatures. First time it crashed, my entire system restarted without warning or an error message, I thought it was a temp issue but temperatures haven’t gone above 68 °C (155 °F). Corrupted Files. Checked integrity of rust files multiple times, and also multiple re-installs. Drivers. Updated everything, even mouse and audio software. Graphical settings. Running on Fantastic or Potato doesn’t change outcome. Hardware and other software. Used windows memory diagnostic tool and found no issues. Also checked windows integrity through sfc /scannow and everything was ok. CPU and GPU are also fine. Health of all storage drives are “GOOD”. Computer is clean (not a dust issue) and I did a fresh install of windows early December. No software installed on the day of update (or 6 days before for that matter). Only thing installed on the 4th was windows cumulative update (KB4056892). Nvidia Experience. Already uninstalled it, nothing changed. DirectX from rust folder. Installed multiple times, tested with or without it during multiple re-installs of the game. Virtual memory. Already tried adjusting virtual memory size and nothing changed. Launch commands. Tried them all (All that I could find that would solve the problem), no luck. DX9 does not work thought, error: InitializeEngineGraphics failed. What happened: After the third crash I was unable to play for over an hour, crash could happen as soon as I got in or an hour later, inside my base or outside, looting or farming, it didn't mater, was kind of random. Next day I could not play 5 minutes before a crash, usually no error message just sudden restart of computer. But then after many unsuccessful attempts of fixing it, I decided to uninstall it through steam and install it back on my SSD (Was on a HDD before). Played for 7 hours straight. No issues. No problems. And a damn fast loading time. Next day crashed almost instantly. Reinstalled game on SSD, worked like a charm. This worked only one more time. Today I played the entire morning, no issues, closed the game, had lunch, got back, and haven’t being able to stay on a server for more than 3 minutes. Multiple re-installs and nothing. Moved back to HDD and loading does not even finish, crashing before I can even wake up. Since the beginning of the issue I was able to temporarily fix it, but it seems that the problem has aggravated. I don’t have any more ideas of what to do other than a fresh install of windows that I really not in the mood to do. The only thing I can think of is that the latest update messed something up and I’m part of a what looks like to be a small but significant group of people that could play it just fine and can’t anymore. I can't same my issue is 100% the same as yours, but it sounds close enough. tl;dr game randomly freezes for a split second, when it recovers the screen is still frozen (I can still move and do things, just not see it). Sometimes I get a crash with a d3d11.dll access violation. I've not yet had my whole computer freezing, just the game. Like you, I've updated all my drivers and checked everything out. Even tried disabling in game skins, which helped with stuttering mind you. i7-7700hq, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 3GB, Win10.
