Feedback so far has been maybe limit one or two per building or make them open and close very slowly. Please leave any thoughts/feedback Thanks https://youtu.be/WkI2qtg_dc0
aswome idea i would love this in the game
Pretty cool concept. But what stops a large clan from making a sheet metal base and putting a vault door as the external door? Or, heaven forbid, a cave base full of them. If the vault door was used like that. Some bases, at least in the early stages of a fresh wipe, would be near unraidable for a small group that can't grind up that many resources.
That's why there would have to be a limit on the amount per base/TC. Also maybe add a 5 min open/close timer, that way people wouldn't want them as front doors.
Even so, you could have the vault door in an airlock with a regular sheet door to counter the wait time if someone needs to get in quickly. I could see there being a limitation to the amount of Vault Doors you could have in a base. But it would still be irrelevant if it was used in a sequence of airlocks in a cave base. I don't think there would be anything more demoralizing than blowing through a couple of armoured doors just to be met with a vault door at the end. Don't get me wrong, it's a really cool concept, and I know it seems I'm attacking it. But please believe when I say it's a really good idea. Every concept needs to have both sides discussed, how it could used and abused.
I see what you are saying, but the limit would be controlled by the TC coverage, even a 1x1 with a TC has a 16m radius of cover on all sides, so you could not place multiple vault doors.
I understand that you could balance it with a limitation on how many vault doors a building can have. However, even if you could have only one vault door in a base it could throw some major balancing issues into the mix. As I stated in the previous post. The only way I could see this being balanced it to make it uncraftable. Maybe you could only get it as a rare drop at Launch Site. Or as a rare drop from a plane/heli/bradley. If it was craftable a large group could quickly grind a vault door and their base would be very difficult to raid in the early game, and near impossible to raid as a small group.
after the new walls HP I AGREE!
Yeah a base with 20 of these doors just wouldn't work.
Any more thoughts on this?
I think it is a good concept, but what would it be used for.. I mean.. Unless we are about to relive fallout 4 I don't see why we would need this to be honest.
To be as strong as an armored wall, did you not watch the video?
Just wondering If a Dev could comment?
You know, this makes me think of another idea. What if in some monuments that had these doors and you had to hack them to by using a laptop (like the military base). You would still be able to enter the military base, but certain rooms are closed off by them. After you enter, you get some special loot and maybe get something story related. Like you see a bunch of dead staff or scientists in there. Who were they? Who why did the lock themselves in?
You want to limit those doors per TC yet you keep forgetting TCs are getting removed sooner or later. Even if you limit them per base its an artificial limitation which rust developers dont like as it breaks immersion.
Yeah i like that, maybe only 1 spawns in a 48 hour period, so on a weekly wipe there would be only 3 to be found. (or maybe every 24 hours)
