from what i can tell from the icon, crafting it wouldnt take a workbench, a piece of sheet metal,a gear, a pipe, a spring to craft 5 scrap
you can recucle components into scrap.
yes, but only at specific locations on the map, locations farmed by top tier guys with max or near max equipment...

If your only playing max-pop servers, yes, that will be the places where the big guys roam. Again a problem that starts with yourself.
uhm... Abandoned Supermarket? Mining outpost? Lighthouse? Oxum,s Gas Station? But... If you not want PVP - play on pvE servers.
