• How to make a candle flame?

So, I made a candle and entity model for it, and the light in it, too, did, but how now to make sure that there in place of the candle was some kind of animated sprite fire, or something like this PS: I had a stupid idea at first to create a small entity inside a candle and set it on fire, but the fire was too big. Please, help.
I think you have three options: Use an animated texture for the flame. Use an animated model for the flame. Use a particle for the flame.
If you can make things like this and this transparent, your life might get a little easier. I would chromakey it (I use Sony Vegas), save it as an image sequence, and piece it back together as a gif. Or this handy tool.
I do believe TF2 has some candle related textures, even for sprites maybe? It has lots of Halloween stuff, so you might find useful resources in the files
Indeed it does: List of TF2 Particles candle_light1 candle_light2
You can convert to VTF file, that's the idea. :P And it's not the format's fault, it's the lazy way it was rendered.
i thought if you used vtfedit you could only import individual frames. I haven't used it for a while though so it probably works with gifs
