Steam keeps closing when I recive data...
In the morning was happening after I was dead, now I cant even join...
Same happened to me too, opened rust, joined a server, died and not it doesn't work. Tried a lot of things, compatibility, update graphic card and drivers, verify game files

Which server are you attempting to connect to?
From what i can tell, it's like others of you already said - some modded servers seem to have the problem.
I just tried to join Blueberry.gg Vanilla+ 2x Solo/duo/trio, and it crashes at "receiving data" - same server worked last night after patch. If i join a non modded server, it doesn't crash.
So there must be a mod that got updated, and its now causing the problem.
Rustafied eu medium 2 working perfectly but not in modded servers...
The issue indeed seems isolated to modded servers, I'm talking to server owners currently troubleshooting this issue.
It only seems to be modded servers with a specific mod. I've just tested several modded servers that work.

I hope is gonna get fixed cuz Im getting raided and I have 71 rockets in a x2 server...
But I dont know why some of them can play...
They might have been on the server whilst the mod was updated

I have vanilla server and have the same issue
I tested something, joined a random server and it worked, but when you die, game crashes and steam close and doesn't work on that server anymore

There is a chance that the newest Rust update has made some
mods on the modded servers outdated. So try waiting a few days, for the mods
to get updated.
I just tested this too, and when you do a kill, you can without problems spawn again.
If you get killed by others, the game will crash.
Alistair its happening to me in uk 1 server its not about modded servers its about the game

Same thing happened for me on a modded server. Got killed, the game crashed and I am unable to join that server. I can join other servers, but if I die there the same thing happens.

Hello forum moderators , sorry for the time ill take from you but on Canada 1 i cannot connect and has same problem . Official server . Can you try and explain us in simple words what the problems is ? Just curious.
