You shouldn't use brushes to create shadows like under that vehicle, use lamps instead. Also you should find a ground texture that'll blend better with that grass, sky is nice.
Thanks for the tip! How would I achieve that? When I tried putting a lamp in it just brightened it up too much and didn't cast good shadows.
As Viox said, get your shadows naturally. Other than that I'm kinda digging the lighting. As for the posing, they're all real nice but I feel like they conflict eachother. The dudes on the left look like they're in combat, whereas the halftrack guys are looking a lot more casual, making it difficult to discern what's happening in the scene.
Can you upload a picture of what it looks like with a lamp on?
Are you using soft lamps or normal gmod lamps?
I meant for the soldiers in the front to be taking potshots at some retreating Soviet soldiers, that was the idea in my head while making it.
Sure, I'll do it soon.
I don't know how to use soft lamps so I use just regular lamps.
If you don't know how to use Soft Lamps I gone and did a guide aiming to teach the fundamentals (it's image heavy so I'd say give it time to load). By the looks of it you've got PS or something close so you should be good to go.
So I went back and used soft lamps on it and holy shit, I gotta say I'm impressed with them, I didn't really understand them when I first downloaded them, but after a while of messing around and reading some of Ubafest's guide I think I understand them more.
I also changed up the skybox and the fog to match the scene, Heres the result:
