• Very time consuming game

Hi everybody, I like Rust, but Vanilla is so time consuming. Farming wood, collecting scrap and crafting is a pain.
then play on a moded server ? it's sure it take time to have a base and c4 but if it's too long for u many servers have increased loot
Filter server search to "x2 vanilla" or "2x vanilla"
keep in mind - the catch22 is that once you start playing on "easymode" improved loot (2x or 3x or 5x) - you will have very very difficult time going back to vanilla. So if your "community" server dies (for whatever reason, but it happens, the server owner is keeping server as a "hobby" its not a paid job), and you cant find one to replace it - you will most likely quit the game as you would not be able to re-adjust to go to back to vanilla. So I advise playing on vanilla only and just get used to the grind and make best of it. I personally don't mind it at all, because everyone else on the server has to grind the same, so you see people with primitive weapons even at the middle/end of the wipe cycle as not everyone is "rich and loaded with c4", which makes it more fun and dynamic. Seeing everyone with unlimited rockets/c4 and AKs would make it really boring for me...
I love the farming mats, I build a base and then grab a fireplace, set it up nice, then think ok what do i need? I run out and head out for some farming, and return to make my items and move to the next. Actually when My base is all done and there really isn't anything left to make, i kinda get bummed out and usually go make another base just so I can do it all over again.
I don't think it's all that bad to go back, I moved to a 3x shortly after I started. Mostly because I played a lot of Ark and was not in the mood to grind. But after a month or two on the modded servers I swapped back to Vanilla and I kind of liked it better. As you said there are people at all stages even near wipe on the vanilla servers. So I agree that vanilla is the way to go, but it's not too bad to switch back after playing on modded servers IMO
The game is really only as time consuming as you make it. Obsessing over your base for a weekend only for it to be destroyed in a matter of minutes is certainly going to make you think differently about the time you've spent on it.
besides this, you also have to keep in mind that when a server highers the gather rate, everybody gets everything faster, and pvp / raiding is more common on modded servers than on vanilla servers. This can be good for you, but most times it works against you if your not used to modded servers.
