hey i had gmod on my laptop and i was playing on it perfectly on windows 8 then my hard drive failed so i replaced it and installed windows 10 and i downloaded gmod again and whenever i start up the game gmod uses all the remaining cpu but it didnt use that much before, i did change compability settings to windows 8 but that didnt work and also i put in my launch options -dxlevel 80 and it did lower the cpu but i cannot load anything, the game just crashes so im now kinda stuck with this
btw there are no background programs running i disabled all of those
it even used cpu when i had 0 addons
when idle only uses 2% of cpu memory and hard drive
cpu is intel celeron n3060 @ 1.60ghz (it has some sort of turbo mode which makes the speed go up to 2.5ghz)
4gb ddr3 memory

how the hell do i fix this

What's your video card? Does it happen in single-player with no addons installed? Also, use -dxlevel 98 instead of 80.
i checked it says microsoft basic video adapted
does that mean that i have to update the drivers?
The graphics driver shows as “Microsoft Basic Display
okay i found out the graphics it is intel hd 400 graphics
pretty sure it can run gmod because i used to play just fine before
yes i updated the drivers and garrysmod runs smoothly now
