So I've recently had an idea which currently is only do-able via a plugin. But perhaps Rust could maybe add this in.
So basically create 'traps' which would be an invisible box for most players EXCEPT if you have ESP. Thus when they open the box it alerts the admins and if they open too many then they auto get banned or something.
it was in rust legacy servers. and it was plugin too, but I don't know why dev's didn't think about it.
@Alistair is this something that can be done to counter ESP?
Cheaters will stop using the ESP for box then ? Maybe 10-20 idiots will get banned but i don't think this will help
Cheats would just evolve past it and it'd be a pointless mechanic. You literally cannot win; a team of developers working hard, or thousands of sweaty, unemployed worthless netizens? The latter have just that much more time on their hand. Its a good thought, but in the end, it'd prove ineffectual in the end I fear. Still, I mean, I'm not against it being implemented, I just feel like it won't do anything in the end.
why dont they just ip ban cheaters?
No, detection is the best method.
While in theory its possible its just too expensive for performance reasons.
If I were to develop a game and that would be tempted by Cheater, I'd just put one or two co-workers on it so that they'd look at every HAcks download and build some mechanics that make the hack useless and that over and over again! :D
