Long lost rust turret consept art, will there be useable base turrets?

A long time ago when the devs were coming up with the idea of automated turrets, some consept art was show of various looking turrets with cameras. They eventually settled for the small turret we have all come to know and love today, but I think that the old turret consepts are still useable.

i like the idea of having a base mounted turret people could use to fend off large groups or zergs, give the smaller groups as advantage when defending.
Does anyone know of base mounted turrets were planned or what happen to the idea, I know they are planning the mortar in the future. Just curious if anyone knows anything or what people’s thoughts are on it.

yeah - cant wait for the stronger (tier 2?) variant of the auto-turrets!

That would be a neat idea of additional types of turrets or traps could be implemented.
I would love for there to be mountable turrets/guns.
