• How I got my skins to work and fixed the problem.

K so from what I remember here's the steps I followed before I finally got them working: I re-installed Rust, and made sure it was on my fastest hard drive "which is my SSD" I then verified my files and made sure the integrity of the entire game was in tact. I made sure all the settings where set to default in console involving skins; "Itemskins 0-1, skinwarmup 0-1" that sort of stuff. Google those up because they've probably changed, and I can't remember the commands off the top of my head. Before the game became optimized, I would try everything even keeping skins off from loading because the game would run smoother without them causing spikes in FPS when opening a barrel. But now that the game is optimized really well I like having skins on and doesn't affect performance. Clear your download cache in steam: This is the magic that made my skins load in beautifully with how the game was suppose to work, because before I did this they would load in randomly, some would sit on the refresh arrows icon for days and nothing would happen. Other times it would seem they'd take turns working, some would work 1 day, then they wouldn't the next. Clearing your download Cache on steam: Go to your desktop with steam running in the background but not open and no game running. Right click your Steam Icon in your Tray and click settings Go to the section in the list on the left that says "Download" Find the button that says "Clear Download Cache" Follow through the rest of the way on the direction it gives you. After I finally got my rust skins to work properly they load in smooth, timely and often stay for long periods of time, unless I join another server and I just wait a few seconds. But because I have over 20 skins I take close to 30 seconds before they're all loaded. Keep in mind this won't work for everyone. Granted.. but I am trying to help you all, and if it does great. If not I'm sorry.
I LOVE YOU THANKS
I did not uninstall Rust, however I followed what you said about clearing the cache, it didn't fix it for me, so I went onto The Hangout server, where you can type /allskin now to download the skins. I also went into the workshop, click accepted skins, and then went through all 20 pages, click on the ones that do not have a green circle at the top (that means you downloaded it) and they will manually download. I did that so that every skin now had a green circle. I also changed my Steam and Rust / Rust client .exe to run as administrator, finally I restarted the computer and next time I logged onto Rust I went into my inventory first, click refresh so all the skins load. Then I went into the Intoxicated Sandbox server, press Q for crafting... and went through every item I knew I had a skin for, click once on one of the skins and they should all load up. I did that for every item more or less. Then I logged into my normal server and FINALLY skins are working for me now!! Not sure which of the above steps fixed the issue, or whether Facepunch themselves have worked on it, but I'm just glad they are working again!
I am hoping clearing the cash works for me. Manually downloading 385 items is gonna suck Cheers for the help G_Sniper and Pressure Drop
Go to the hangout server first, and use the /allskin now thing.. it will say in chat they are queued. Wait there for 15 minutes... mess around or afk. Then when you go to accepted skins in workshop, most will already have the green circle, just a few on each page to click. However some people say it is now fixed by Facepunch so I don't know
Just a quick update to say the skins are still broken the next time I logged into the game. However if you go to the intoxicated sandbox server, press Q for crafting, then go to each item you own a skin for, click once... you will see default skins on the right, but if you click on one of the skins you own, it should load all the skins for that item. Check all of them have loaded, if not, click another skin that is showing as default. Eventually they will all load. Then move onto the next item you own a skin for. Every skin loaded for me in this way, APART from the Custom SMG... I have the Dark Flames and Polymer skins, and neither will load. Everything else is fine. Maybe there is a problem with these skins ? Anyway, when you do that, skins will load fine until you exit the game, then youll have to join the Sandbox server again before playing, and repeat the above steps. TEDIOUS but at least they work with this method !
