Then you can just destroy it with the hammer to seal it again). These little "Bunkers" are ridiculous for storing "Loot" in. Please do an emergency fix for this, the abuse is so widespread atm that raiding is completely broken. If you can’t do a real fix just disable roofs for the next month.
really i don't mind I've never seen anyone make one of these mostly because there is no room for anything they just are not convenient
On EU Low Pop I saw a Base few days ago like this and I was confused af, but now I understand why :O
I don't see any problem with this, because what your showing is realy obvious and easy to raid. Besides this, it's hard to acces, specialy when you get live raided. Then you also can see who's doing this by spying on them and just see if they use this method or not, to catch them while they opened their lootroom for you. Think there is a small chance they patch this, because the only way to fix this is removing the standard sidewalls of slanted roofs, and add a trianle wall (left and right sided to cover soft sides) to the building menu. This last thing would also an awesome feature of using them to give a nice looking cover for foundation stairs. @garry @Alistair
Yeah cause this is the base design. You can build around it and even place walls at the lower part of the roof by placing foundations that are half height higher than the roof. This can make for one of the strongest bases right now
You can build a normal base around this. I've seen people hide their loot in an armored roof 1x2, with an actual base around it. That's not fair. That's not fun. That's not right. Forcing someone to expend a massive extra of resources simply to get past an exploit is not good game design.
at least they can not fortify it like before, because walls wont connect to close on it. Compared to the viarity of tricks before, and the few that are left, this is one thats easy to notice and easy to deal with as an experienced builder and raider.
considering Facepunch staff Sponsored this video i guess they already know about the exploit considering they sponsored the video highlighting the exploit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-zuM1jCrPg
Its just strange, they make walls stronger thereby incentivize raiding by doors, and now they do this. Making it inevitable that once you get into the core of a base theres a hqm box. Worst of all is if you do what i did, built 12 hqm roof cupboard boxes then distribute loot. 100% unraidable without massive losses.
too many people on the forums crying that "omg I got offlined" and begging for offline protection. I know about this roof strat (I personally dont use it, not yet), but the only reason I feel its ok and balanced - because too many people cry about upkeep and how they think 3.0 is building is too limited (its not). So these roof bases are basically a "noob way" of making a stronger base
Since people seem to be having difficulty appreciating the flexibility of this, let me remind you: Two roof tiles = 50 HQM. Upkeep = 7HQM/day. Here's a shitty base I slapped together with no pre-knowledge of making these bases, going off of what I encountered in a raid. LET ME REITERATE: You can add this to ANY base, it just takes TWO foundations of space. It is UNBELIEVABLY easy to do and should be an exploit. You can secure a LOT of loot this way. You can even make them BIGGER. Can you imagine raiding a giant clan base, blowing through 30 doors and multiple layers of walls, only to discover you have to waste MORE EXPLOSIVES on this bullshit? Forgive me for being a SALTY CUNT, but this is ridiculous. ITs even easier, at the bottom part of the roof just make a foundation that goes up half a wall before placing your roof. Now you can place a half wall on that foundation and boom! Walled in.
OK, let me see if I got it. So it was possible to build an armored roof and then build a twig roof in its place to get into the sealed space? My server only started in January so we still have a very low pop so I've never come across this.
Personally I don't see a problem with this exploit. Never used it. Successfully raided bases using it. I just wish roofs were easier to place and if they sorted the triangle wall bit to behave properly this exploit would be impossible and they'd work properly when placed with walls and doorways under a line of them. If there is a foundation, wall, doorway, wall frame under a roof side it should have a triangle wall. If there isn't any of those things under it there should be a gap. That would fix the exploit and make them work properly. Anyway it appears Facepunch are addressing this with a different approach: ID 25862 Branch roof_building_blocks Commit(s) • Extracted triangle walls from roof building blocks/roof_building_blocks I think that means we can place the triangle as a separate block so will have the same limitations as any other block. If it means they're just removing it that would be underwhelming.
Exactly that. Don't beat yourself up, it was confusing to me too. Its pretty easy to test yourself, though, so try it yourself. Luckily, it seems to be getting fixed soon.
