Attempting to cut a hole in a brush

I have been trying to use stencils and other methods to put a holes into walls. I know it is possibly as I have seen it done.

I found the video, but not the github page before this and was tempted to ask about it. Thank you for the link, I attempted to do a similar method which crashed my game.
