Decay is great and it prevents bases from getting too large and i quite like the idea however the TC has a limited capacity and it needs some tweaking. Here are my ideas.
Add simple TC Decay control options within that can simply be clicked like buttons.
the options would be: default, top, edge.
With the top option the roof and such starts decaying leaving everything else in a perfect state but decays faster based on the percentage ignored resulting in the overall same decaytime however can be used to decrease a base that grew to an extent where u don't farm enough to pay the upkeep.
The edge rule would be starting from the edge's and default would simply be the entire base decaying normally. This also makes decay look more natural as it slowly falls apart rather than all at once.
Imagine a 2x2x8 base, it could use the rule to start from the top if all loot is in the lower or lowest floor and thus the walls & foundation would be unaffected even if you lost 6 floors and thus be ready to be defended if you make it back in time while otherwise the walls on the entire base including the important part might have only 30 or 40% durability left and be destroyed in no time. The current system or default could cause a massive clan base of 20x20x10 to disapear/decay all at once.
this could mean that people just build a 1x1 really high and then go from top, it already does go from exterior in tho
Decay time would be the same as stated
instead of it all disapearing same time it simply starts decaying from top or edge's that are furthest away from the TC.
For example a building that is 1x1 but 10 blocks high.
When the default would have decayed 90% on everything then the one starting from above would have lost 9 blocks in height instead. in a way the targeted decay might be more pricy but it decays in a different way, at the time the default decays 100% the one starting from above would have resulted in the same.
I dont know... its an OK idea, but I feel like more abuse and tears will come out of this...
You can already "guide" decay the way you want by just repairing the blocks which you want to stay (or decay slower) - i.e. if you're trying to rebuild or change up a base.
Also - you say that "the base decays and falls apart all at the same time" - which is not true, each material type (wood/stone/metal/armor) decays at a different rate, and usually 2x longer then the previous tier. I.e. stone takes 5hrs to decay, metal is 10 hrs, and so on.
So if you want a piece to not decay - upgrade it to a higher tier and keep an eye on it and repair it as the rest of the base decays...
You can already to an extent control it but thats due to a lack in mechanic, for example you could simply stop putting in wood if you wish to delete all walls made of wood etc. this suggestion simply allows you to state you wish to start decay from top or edges instead of start to decay a specific type of wall/foundation.
not really a dumbing down of it either but rather a tactical & intelligence increase that is natural...
If you have a wooden cabin in the forest and its rotting and you wish to preserve it as long as possible but have a limit on resources you replace the essentials first like the pillars or inner walls...
the game is quite unrealistic in terms of maintenance.
