I'm just curious to see other opinions. I got 4k hrs and almost all of them on official servers, I like officials, it has it's up's and downs, but official is official, i don't have to trust other servers with admins that they won't abuse.
The thing is, Rust has always had a problem with hackers, always. But in the past few months, they have changed, hacking is now done blatantly, with no care in the world, I remember when they used to do it low-key, but now, you straight up have flying hackers in fights late at night on official. People like that get reported, heavy, 20-30 people, yet still, the ban comes after a few weeks, in rust terms an entire wipe. That doesn't stop, they just buy new accounts, again and again. I came to realize that they don't prevent it, it's so easy to buy and cheat your way in the game, it's also very easy to just create a new account and just. As an example, on Face-punch EU 2, there was a group that literally had people fly in PVP, and they would just say in chat that they will just buy a new account, even tho the entire server reported and wrote to Face-punch, they did nothing for 2 weeks, this could have been resolved in a few minutes.
Next wipe, same group, different account, same thing, they banned after 2 weeks, this is very recent and i can't help but wonder, if they are just satisfied with the new accounts coming in, thus they don't take proper actions.
So are they any different, then EA or other money-hungry companies that will stop at nothing to gain more profit.
TLDR; Rust is ok with people cheating cause they get 30 bucks a pop, so they just chill and record.
Just to be clear this is not a conspiracy saying they make and sell the hacks, just saying, it's either incompetence or willingness.
Maybe they are currently working on a new anti cheat software and that's why not much is happening at the moment. Because they want all the people to "spy" on the hackers in order to find a sensible solution in the long run.
I am currently playing a lot on Rustafied EU-Low Pop and I see the player being banned every day in the chat.
Reading more of this forum i see a lot of people with the same issue, there are no repercussions if your mate is cheating, there is no problem if you play with hackers, raid with hackers. Legit the lousiest game when it comes to cheaters.
this
I think that at this time, the only trusted Admins can be found on Rustafied servers. Other than those i don't think you can 100 percent trust others from random servers.
Unfortunately, playing as a 2-3 group on Rustafied is pretty cancerous, as there are numerous 15+ people clans...Hopefully they will take action on this swarm of hacking on officials.
Me and my mates were seriously discussing and considering paying a monthly subscription to facepunch (5-10 USD) for official server admins.
This means that if more than 100 people pay that monthly you can actually pay some people legally to become active admins on officials, even if they hop on every official to check every other 2-3 hours.
Imagine if every vanilla official veteran in Rust would agree to this...
well, gg facepunch, money hungry.
NO. facepunch gives absolutely. zero fucks about you. you are a resource to be harvested in the expansion of there studios. I like this article below that is quite factual about the meta
Uninstall rust, come back in a year it might be playable (despite the early access joke)
I can't disagree. The development of Rust is just too far in too many directions lacking a single direction to actually make the game complete and fun for everyone. The original Blueprint System was pretty good honestly. The only thing it needed is to be polished a bit more and more features added to the game to compliment progression.
The whole reason the original Blueprint System was canned in the first place is because Garry didn't know how to transition progression from server to server as they want to have other servers reachable through leaving the borders of the map of the server you're playing on. This was something that could have been done, but lack of knowledge and unwillingness to spend the money to get somoene to do it dictated the future of Rust being put in-line with other first person shooter survival games.
The XP System could have been nice for Rust, but it was a horrible implementation since the developers were so sloppy with its design and implementation into the game. Not only that, but it wasn't even ready to be used in production servers, but the company rushed it out the door anyway. After all the hype and people actually experiencing the XP System, it was poorly received and eventually gutted from the game. It took them several months to completely remove the XP System code from the game too.
The Component System could be nice, but the balance is ridiculous. That is half of this game's problem is the balance is so poor it's any wonder so many people are sick of this game. The loss versus reward for a solo player is generally weighed more towards the loss side of things. Even duo and trio groups are experiencing this same problem. Anyone with a life outside the internet is for a greater part, not going to be successful in the game because it just requires way too much time from a person's life. To progress in Rust you need to spend a lot of time and when you have a job, a family and a social life, Rust just feels like another job and just isn't enjoyable.
The other half of the problem is that the cheaters are so bad it's out of control. Every game has cheaters, yes, but this game just never seems to get better. It's too easy to exploit this game due to the software at it's core. EAC can do whatever they want, but at the end of the day they can only do so much and if Rust's core is vulnerable it's just never going to get better. Facepunch Studios just isn't taking responsibility for their game security and it shows in a huge way.
Take note that the original Blueprint System and the XP System were both abandoned due to either inability to develop them further and properly or it was just very poorly constructed and implemented. The Component System was adopted because it's relatively easy to move inventory from one server to another with your avatar. Did it ultimately accomplish what they originally planned? Nope. it was just a workaround that was easier and cost less money.
Note their own words from their website, "We have accepted that everything we do is an educated guess. Things just happen. We don't have long term plans, design documents, financial forecasts." Then we look at the roadmap page that states, "A summary of our plans and goals. Any dates or features mentioned here are intentions - not promises. The only promise we can confidently make is that this information is all wrong."
Don't you just love how this company assumes no liability nor responsibility for any of their actions what so ever? This is a pattern that is ongoing past fourteen years since Facepunch Studios was founded.
You can support whatever company and product you want, but just remember if you support what is wrong in the video game industry you're part of the problem rather than a solution. I made my choice last year.
