The game was developed by Creative Assembly and released on September 22, 2004. The game features large-scale battles of ancient armies with thousands of warriors. The main innovation is a brand new high-quality 3D graphics engine able to render over thirty thousand men on a single battlefield. Another prominent feature is the integration of the strategic and tactical views - the landscape for the battles is the same as seen on that particular spot on the strategic map where the armies meet. The game is set between the years 1080 and 1530. Like the original Medieval, it focuses on medieval warfare, religion, and politics in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. However, unlike its predecessor, the time frame stretches into the era of the historical discovery of the New World, and simulates the discovery and conquest of the Americas. Medieval II is built on the code base of Rome: Total War. I love Rome: Total war! It is so awesome!
I need to install both games and update them D:
Both great games, I've got all the Total War series, never let me down.
These games are epic. I'm looking forward to Empire: Total War BIG TIME.
is anyone playing right now?
I was playing ROME:Total War just now. Having a big trouble trying to defeat the Egpytians. They are the most hardest faction to defeat.
I always use a big frontal attack first, and then flank the enemy for all other sides with horses and elite fighters. It works pretty well :D
No one is in the hamachi server D:
I could utterly crush anyone using the Turks in high period. Naffatun behind ranks of Janissary Musketeers, flanked by cavalry with 2 units of cannons in the rear on a hill.
English longbows, light cavalry and heavy infantry has been my standby. In Rome, I've had a harder time finding an army to play, as the armies aren't as balanced (read: horse cavalry are broken)

So who wants to play some Medieval II right now?
It'd reinstall Medieval total war but if I remember correctly, I'll have to download a FUCKING HUGE update in order to play multiplayer.
Yes, I had to download 1.2GB worth of patches over ay my friends so I could play some Medieval II with him via LAN.
And soon Empires : Total war Will be released!
Medieval is really fun, 300 elites vs 2000 farmers :keke:
Please dont ban me i was searching for a rome total war thread and i just posted and didnt realize it was a year old -Seinfeld
I'm thinking about getting RTW but I'm not sure if I like the idea of using Hamachi.
If it's anything like the other Total War games, the performance difference for RTW played on Hamachi should be minimal.
I just got RTW today. Saw it was a bargain bin and decided to get it . So far, I'm really enjoying it.
I bought the Rome Total War pack a while ago but I've had a hard time getting into the game because of the controls/camera view. Do any of you frequent players have some tips on how to control the camera and move it faster like maybe Age of Empires fast. Edit: This is the steam version so 2 more questions. Can there be coop between players and will the steam version work with you non-steamers?
