After having a success with my previous text based game, Legends of Myth, I've moved onto creating a 2D MMO, following the same stoyrline LoM had, this time in a much better, and enhanced version. The new Legends of Myth has a lot more features that the other one didn't, such as... The Ability to Trade with other players -Group Mode(Shared EXP) -Guilds -PvP -Dungeons(FINALLY) -Selectable Genders(FINALLY, That was begged for in the text based version) -Visual Armor -Global Chat Although it may seem like your basic MMO, A one man team that isn't a great scripter to begin with, takes a lot of work, and I call it an accomplishment. Worklist: Getting rid of the crap GUI Bug Testing Finishing all 49 maps Being less of a douche to new players New Sprites instead of the RPG Maker XP Ones. Screenshots: Just showing it's chat. Let's play!
How about no. That is burning my eyes (JPGs contribute to that). And the engine is shitty.
How about no. That is burning my eyes (JPGs contribute to that). And the engine is shitty.
I sure agree with you there, your reason for it being shitty is pretty good and I'll disband right away.
Legends of Myth? The game looks fine, but....Legends of Myth? It's....just consider a new name.
Legends of Myth? The game looks fine, but....Legends of Myth? It's....just consider a new name.
It was the old name, i'm up for suggestions however. [editline]09:21PM[/editline] Maintenance at the moment, it'll be back up tommorow.
Legends of Myth is one of the strangest names. It makes no sense whatsoever haha.
Legends of Myth is one of the strangest names. It makes no sense whatsoever haha.
I know, when we originally made the text based game, it had so many turns in it, it just got funny after a while.
I sure agree with you there, your reason for it being shitty is pretty good and I'll disband right away.
If only it wasn't sarcasm. Really. Why would you use this joke of an engine. You can make much better in GAMEMAKER, for fuck sakes! But then again, Gamemaker is actually pretty good when it comes to users who know nothing of programing.
You made this? Nice. I might play this just because it gives me nostalgia of a 2D MMO I used to play a while back.

By the way, i'm not using RPG Maker X, just the graphics in it. Also, the engine im using was originally made for single player games, just with a lot more capability then RPG MAKER X has, so I used it, coded a server program, and added more features.
Gamemaker has a capability of playing online, through a lobby system, even. there are quite a few amateur MMOs made with it, as well. Additional DLLs can be easily implemented, to have EVEN MORE features. You just need pro edition for most of the advanced features, but otherwise you are either an idiot, or just don't understand what I am talking about.

Even then, I don't want to take most of my time making a 3D Game, I'd much rather have 2D Graphics, with better gameplay, then 3D Graphics, with shit gameplay.

Not the terrible shit like FPS maker and alike. So, we did think of different things.

[editline]07:19PM[/editline] New name Realms of Ruin!
The art is pretty obviously made out of complete templates. None of it works together, very little there, bland looking, and grid based. Finding a real artist instead of these premade sprites should be your first goal.

He's started on weapons at the moment, with a dagger and a sword. Dagger Sword The sword had to be resized.
That looks kind of fun. Beta, eh?
That looks more like a short sword than a dagger.
You barely edited this engine. You toss together a couple shitty maps, made a couple items, used default sprites, and call it an MMO? :dogout:
It's a work in process. Chill. And you can't really call it a MassiveMO right now anyway.
No, I'm not gonna 'chill'. First, I fail to see how pointing the truth out requires me to 'chill'. Second, people do this all the time: download the engine, fill maps with grass, make shitty buildings, make items, ???, profit. It's no different than any of the other fourty-million chopjobs floating around.
He's probably focused on the game's mechanisms, like the GUI, the chat and the bug testing. He'll start working on the maps/sprites after he has all that out of the way. ...I hope.
I bet if I download the game, it'll have vanilla game mechanics. Crtl to attack, click to select spells, NPCs that run up to you, quests that involve killing this to get this... I'll be right back. Yep. Also, when you kill the the training dummy, it leaves a white spot. I can't figure out how to get off the "Island of Identity", and I'm not sure I want to. You didn't even get any music; that'll take about a five-minute search. Try harder.

Second of all, there's more to be added, as of now the engine is bare, and I have to fix a lot of things in it. Also, there is no NPC that runs up to you, ever. They respond to an attack on them, or a fellow tribe member, which isn't in the vanilla engine. Oh, and shall I mention that half the spell effects in the vanilla engine don't work, Guess who fixed them?
looks a lot like that red stone game or whatever
looks a lot like that red stone game or whatever
Never heard, please tell more. Secondly, the server is down as I am doing some new updates to the skills system, which will include Mining, Woodcutting, and the likes of those skills we all love. Hopefully it'll stimulate the economy as well. Woodcutting is coming into completion, it took me some time to do it, starting from last night, and I'll be starting work on mining soon.
I'll try it.
Yeah, but theres a new client and the environment is being re-worked for the new theme to match the name of the game. It'll be featuring mainly the streets of LA using as many geographical references as we can to get the environments worked out correctly. The graphics for it we're done and after one night of completion totaled to around 110 Megabytes of files. New Human and Zombie Sprites have been added, and the weapons are being designed as of now, our main objective is to finish the mapping on it though. Also, the new client you will need WinRar to extract, it saved a lot of time on uploading so. [editline]09:10PM[/editline] New Client. http://filebeam.com/a99244fc9066ae6b3f464e4eb2a79317
1) Use mediafire for file hosting. Much more orderly. 2) Client doesn't even run. It keeps trying to find non-existing files.
