Let's play: The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall
(special thanks to yawmwen)

Alright, so I've decided to do a LP of Daggerfall, as I was inspired by this thread. In fact, I pretty much shamelessly stole the whole premise of it from yawmwen. Anyways, the idea of this is that you will be able to give me input of what I do, and, most importantly, the character creation.
Let's begin!

Bethesda logo. First thing you see when starting up the game.

The main menu.
After selecting "new game", we are given a map. Pick a province and you are told which race comes from there, and if you want to play that race.

The races/regions are:
High Rock = Brenton
Hammerfall = Redguard
Skyrim = Nord (Resistant to frost magic, somewhat useful)
Morrowind = Dak Elf
Elsweyr = Khajiit
Vallenwood = Wood Elf
Black Marsh = Argonians
Sumurset Isle = High Elf (immune to paralysis, pretty useful later on)
Imperial Province = has no race (that is playable, at least)
Class option

Do you want to choose a class or answer questions? We're gonna go with the first one. Before this I was prompted to choose between a Male or Female character (I'm going with male).
After this I was shown a list of pre-made classes. We will go with "custom".

The template of the class creation. Most of it should be obvious to people who are used to The Elder Scrolls series.
The attributes are:
Strength: combat damage and weight carry limit
Intelligence: how much magicka you have
Willpower: How hard it is for enemies to resist your spells, increases resistance to spells for yourself, and how fast magicka restores
Agility: chances of hitting enemies and avoiding their attacks
Endurance: your health, healing rate, and poison/disease resistance
Personality: How nice people are to you and lower shop prices (USELESS)
Speed: how fast you move and attack
Luck: apparently, affects everything (in a small way), including loot
Here's a list of all the skills:
WEAPONS: Axe, blunt weapon, short blade, long blade, archery, hand to hand
MAGIC: Alteration, destruction, illusion, mysticism, restoration, thaumaturgy
LANGUAGES: Centaurian, daedric, dragonish, giantish, harpy, impish, nymph, orcish, spriggan
THEIF/ASSASIN: Stealth, lockpicking(USELESS), backstabbing, pickpocket (USELESS)
NOTE: Pickpocketing is useless because you only get a few gold pieces per try, and there is a good chance you will get caught.
NOTE Lockpicking is useless because all locks in towns are level 1, and you can only attempt to lockpick any door once. A better option is to bash it down (although noisy).
COMBAT: Critical strike, dodging
OTHER: Jumping, running, swimming, etiquette, streetwise, mercantile, medical
Asuming you know what most of these do, I'll explain the ones you should be less familiar with.
Language skills (Centaurian, Dragonish, etc.) are pretty useless. Esentially, they give you a chance where a monster who speaks that language may not attack you (but will if you draw a weapon). Obviously, a Daedra would speak Deadric, for example.
Thaumaturgy consists of two things really: levetation and spell reflection.
levetation is supposedly very, very useful, can be used even by lower levels
spell reflection is also apparently useful, but requires a high skill.
Streetwise and Etiquette: speech skills. They essentially allow you to speak with either lower class or upper class people better, respectively.
Now onto the right half of the screen. Basically, the idea here is that you give yourself special advantages, such as acute hearing, bonus to hit (to whatever, humanoid/animals/undead/daedra), or health regeneration (sun/night/both). You also are going to have to give yourself disadvantages (I'll explain why later). These could be damage (from holy places/sunlight), phobia (to whatever), low tolerance (to any magic type/diseases)
Now, why you want to give yourself disadvantages is to ballance out the advantages. The more advantages you have, the faster you level up. Sounds like a win/win, but if you level up too fast, you won't have enough time to get good enough equipment. On the other side, if you have too many disadvantages, then you level up very slowly.
Another way to move the difficulty up or down is to increase the amount of hitpoints gained per level.
I'm too lazy to write down all the advantages/disadvantages, so I'll just post it in two images.

Last on thing this screen is reputations. It is very simple: if you are favored by one reputation, you must be equally unfavored by others. Easy.
Note: From here to the end, I will fill out the rest of the character creation (won't affect much). Skip this part if you want.

After this we get the option to choose a backround using questions. This is going on too long, so I'll probably just choose the fast start option

NAME THYSELF
We'll go with the name Miguel Thundercunt. (Miguel is pronounced Mee-gwell, this is important)

CHOOSE THY FACE
I'll pick whatever is fitting

ADD BONUS POINTS
Depending what class that we end up going for, I'll add the points accordingly.

REFLEXES
Uh, I think I'll just stick with average.

OVERVIEW
This lets you make some last-minute changes before you are done
...And that's the character creation. Sorry that I made this big, but it is complex. If you want to have a say in what I choose, you don't have to pick everything, just what you want. Basically, I'm asking what you want Miguel's attributes to be, as well as skills, advantages/disadvantages, and reputations. Also, keep in mind that I won't neccesarily have to go out dungeon crawling all the time, I can choose to raid homes, join a faction, whatever you guys want.
One last note, I won't respond to everyone right away, I'm going to be a bit busy so don't expect updates too often.
Makes sure you use the advantages and disadvantage system, that shit is cash; birthsigns can go fuck themselves.
Like if you want to do pure warrior, make it so you cant use magic in dark or light, but then add a bunch of advantages to balance it out like weapon expertise, athleticism, immunity to magic attacks, etc.

Don't worry, I've played before and used all that stuff. I also read up on a guide, so I know what's good and what isn't.
Also, no health regeneration in light is a bit overpowered, since all dungeons and indoors areas count as dark.
my 2 cents
you should make a roguelike warrior
primary skills: short blade, critical strike, dodging
major skills: streetwise, etiquette, archery
minor skills: stealth, backstabbing, running, swimming, mercantile, medical
advantages should be bonus to hit humanoids and undead, and expertise in short blade
disadvantages: no leather(this is where the warrior comes in), no magic(light or dark), phobia of animals, and low tolerance to poison
try underworld rep(thats criminals right)
or not, change it if my class idea is stupid
Okay, so I've decided to go with your layout. Everything was going fine, then I was about to face my first monster.
"Hm, I should save now because if you die without saving at all on a file, you have to remake your character."
I save the game, this happens.

What the fuck.
I'll have to try again and remake the character. I hope this problem doesn't persist.
Funny thing is, this has never happened to me before. I don't know why it did it now.
Alright, remade the character and fixed the issue.
Part One
Race

I decided to roll with a high elf (they are the only class with an actual advantage, other than Nords).
Character class sheet

Decided to go with yawmwen's suggestion, with a few changes here and there. Also, I added "critical weakness to paralysis", which does nothing because high elves are already immune to paralysis.
Opening cutscene

I get some CGI animation has a narrator saying something. If you want the cutscenes, here's some links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niU1bRqxrIU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAd4YbNlALU

Well this sucks. At least I have some stuff though. Wait...did I hear a rat?

SHIT! That thing's fucking HUGE!

Killed it. Man I hate rats. Hopefully there aren't any more of those assholes.

Oh come on, bats? I know this is making me sound like a pussy, but those are just rats with wings.

Found a thief in a small room, trying ambush me from around a corner. Killed him with a stab to the face, and got some gold and armor.

Found an archer in a dinning room. Easy kill. Also, inventory check.

Seriously, a freaking bear? How did he even get in there?
Okay, I'll admit it, I have a phobia of animals. But give me a break, there usually aren't bears in storage rooms waiting for ambush.

Looks like the throne room. Funny, there's a lever right here, wonder what it does.

Apparently it lifts me up to another area.
You know what, I'm making a break for the exit.

There it is! It's a tight squeeze, but it looks like I can slip through.

Glad to be out of there. Now where do I go... Well, might as well be Daggerfall, maybe I can find out what I'm supposed to do there. At least I can find a good place to have my equipment taken care of.

Wow, the place is as big as I thought it would be.

These people are giving me a strange look. Also, a cat.
I need to find out where I can get my stuff repaired, this lady might help me.

Found someone to repair my dagger, and cost me 88 gold. Man, people around here don't do stuff cheap.
This guy looks familiar...

Anyways, I sold all of my extra armor and weapons to him. I also bought a short bow and 51 arrows.

I need some rest. This place doesn't seem so bad.

Level up. I put the 5 points toward agility.

When I woke up, I noticed something odd. See this closet?

...They put a closet in the closet.
That wraps up this part. What will I do next? If you have any suggestions, tell me. Some ideas could be: join a temple, cat-burglary, ask around for work, try to find naked women (yes really), whatever you think is cool.
"Miguel Thundercunt"
:v:
i think you need to join a criminal underworld faction, also find naked women
You should try becoming a werewolf or (If you want to do something really difficult) a vampire.
