Blue Sky survival and PVP server - No whitelist, cracked clients allowed - Games

Obviously you should try to be nice to other but there's no real rule requiring you to. All of those other generic rules like no spamming apply. To prevent players from logging on as other players, when you log onto the server you have to type /register (and pick a password) for the first time, and /login (password) for every other join. If I wanted to harvest passwords, I'd spend years decrypting each password, and then, IF the user was a legitimate user who bought the game, the odds of that being fairly slim anyway, then the chance of getting a working username/password combo would be even slimmer because of the fact that most people these days are smart enough to not use the same password everywhere. This server scams peoples account. The server owner steals user accounts with a plugin. When you get in the server, your need to "Register" (That means write your password in the chat) The server owner himself said he harvest accounts. [b]Do not join this shit[/b]

First off let me say I do not approve of allowing cracked clients on the server. That being said: I've personally run a MC server using a plugin like xAuth (it's predecessor, actually). It is true it requires you "register" when you log in, but it does NOT have to be the same password as your minecraft account (In fact it's usually encouraged to use something different). It's a totally separate authentication method used only to prevent offline-mode clients from stealing another player's inventory by using their username on connection. When they connect, they have to enter the user-set password else they can't move, chat, mess with the inventory, or take basically any actions. The passwords are also encrypted -not stored in plain text-, so even if the server admin [i]wanted[/i] to read them, it just isn't possible. If anyone is complaining about the possibility of getting their Minecraft account scammed, it's just because they're dumbasses who don't understand what the auth system [b]actually[/b] does. They don't own the game and thus have no value.

And dude, I couldn't decrypt these passwords if I tried all day and night for weeks and weeks and weeks. If you REALLY want proof, I'll reset my password on the server to the password I use for everything (including Facepunch, Youtube, and post the encrypted version right here for everybody to see.

I'd have to actually learn to rewrite a pretty big portion of the plugin (the source is available but then, I don't know Java) and like Dragonblz said, it goes right back to the notice I put saying don't use your actual Minecraft password.
