Let's play Supreme Ruler 2020: USA vs. Canada, Mexico

Since I'm too tired to explain it, let Wikipedia be my guest:

The game allows players to choose either Scenarios with a defined scope and objective, or a Campaign "Sandbox" mode where there are no pre-determined victory conditions. There are over 250 playable regions simulated in the game. The player controls the economies, the militaries, research, government spending, spy operations (including the launching of satellites), and diplomacy. The player decides what military units to build, what facilities to build, how much or how little of a resource to produce, and also sets government policies in areas such as finance and social services. Diplomatic options include alliances, treaties, and trades of resources and technologies.
Supreme Ruler 2020 generally operates as a real time strategy game, though players are able to pause the game or change the game speed. The military element of the game is played through battalion-sized units represented on the game map, that can be controlled and given orders using the mouse individually or through groupings. Optionally players may leave unit initiative turned on, which will allow the AI to control military units for the player.
The player may also use Cabinet Ministers to assist with the operation of their regions, through the use of a Minister-priorities system and an in-game email system.
Multiplayer is available in LAN or Internet play for up to 16 players. Matchmaking is available through GameRanger.
SOME COOL SCENARIOS THAT I MIGHT PLAY LATER:
-SHATTERED WORLD: Most of the world is fractured into smaller states: the USA's all 50 states are independent. Only a few countries like Japan, India and Israel are still unified.
SAUDI INVASION: The Saudi Royal Family's been overthrown, and it's up to the Americans, Iraqis, Qatarans, Israelis, and Kuwaitians to restore them. Kinda cool in that you have limited resources to fight Saudi Arabia and Iran.
GLOBAL CRISIS: World War III threatens to break out between a Russo-Chinese alliance and a Euro-American alliance, though these alliances vary depending on how much tension you set in the settings.
It's less complicated than Hearts of Iron III in that terrain, weather, etc. doesn't affect gameplay, but more complex in that you have to take care of EVERYTHING about your country: its economy, research, health care, bonds, and everything else needed to run a country.
In fact, this should be the game Obama or some other world leader should play. Srsly.
You can play as any country that exists as of now. Any. ANY. Yes, even Andorra. I currently play on Global Crisis, the expansion.
But not Vatican City. Sorry Pope :(
Anyway, I'll play the scenario called "Manifest Destiny". In it, the US basically feels it's time to take down those Canadian and Mexican sonsabitches down.
Know that I play this game:
-Not really paying much attention to my economic, technological, and internal affairs. I'll leave that to my ministers to dick around with.
-Not knowing how to amphibiously transport units. Oh lawdy.
-Honestly letting my military units do the work: I'll only sometimes take control manually.
SETTINGS: You can configure stuff such as how tense global relations are. No tension means little to no wars will happen at all except for the one already in your scenario.
I put very high settings. My liberation war against my neighbors won't be the only conflict. Victory conditions? Capture the capital, and you instantly take over that country.

OK so here is teh world

And here is North America. I think you can guess why their capitals are red.

Since I'm immediately in a war I pay little attention to my non-military ministers: I simply tell my defense minister guy to do a "Massive Military Buildup", "Increase Unit Readiness", etc. etc. He'll do the rest for me. Obviously there's pros and cons to doing all this, but again, I really don't care. Once I've created Greater America I can focus on my internal problems.

My first target is the Canadian capital. Although the US is still a military superpower, Canada possesses a significant force that might severely bog me down.

A war of epic scale begins all across the border. There might not seem like a lot of explosions but that's because this is just a screenshot. There are quite the sound effects and explosions in especially intense battles like this one. I think this is going to be a long, prolonged war---

O_O

Well, this will go down in history as the Five Day War. :canada:
k Mexico we gonna come for you nao

What I did is put what's called a "Hot Spot" on the Canadian capital. I guess when you make them you make, well, a hot spot. Your forces converge on it at your will and shabaam. It ranges from a simple attack to a naval attack to a re-supply or anything else us military nerds can think up of.
Well before I take a brief interval I noticed there were other conflicts going on in the world. No surprise, since I, again, set the global tension to very high.
Israel and Jordan are duking it out:

And for some strange reason, France, my native country, is at war with the Netherlands. The only thing standing between the frogs and the wooden shoe-wearing people are the chocolate-eating Belgians. I don't think poor Belgium's gonna last long in the inevitable invasion from north and south.

SO, WILL THE AMERICANS CAPTURE MEXICO CITY IN TIME? WILL WE EVER FIND OUT WHY THE FRENCH AND DUTCH ARE AT WAR? WHAT WILL RUSSIA DO? WILL I FINALLY FOUND OUT HOW TO DO A AMPHIBIOUS INVASION?
FIND OUT...when I wake up tomorrow and continue the game :smug:

Welp, time to march across to Russia across the Bering strait!
But seriously, I've always wanted to get into this game. A good LP might give me a solid reason to.

Well, now I'm gonna add a bunch of hotspots in and around Mexico City such as "Attack", "Battle Support", and so on. Not really sure what it all means, but at least it makes me feel like I'm doin something.

Turns out it does do something, I think. Forces stationed in Texas are blitzing through directly to the capital with those air transports flying around them. I assume those transports are for supplying them or something? Meh.

Around the world, the Korean War continues, and both countries are locked in a furious stalemate. Bill Cosby threatens both countries to cut off his episodes of comedy until he realizes that he is no longer funny.

Meanwhile on the Mexican Front, my tanks are chillin wit da hood...until they run into more Mexican soldiers. Goddamnit why can't we just be Americans and nuke everything

Me too. I obviously digitally purchased it from their website.
Oh goddamnit.
My laptop screen broke, it'll be a while before I'm able to play the game again.
In the mean time, Hearts of Iron III for my desktop ^^
I have this never got into it because the world map looks kind of bad but I think i'm going to try, but do you guys know if theres a map mod for this?
They dare attack Sweden?! We'ill see bout that when we throw our Swedish meatballs at 'em!
How's Finland doing?
Occupied by Russia, I'd suppose.
I'm having so much fun in this game, being Texas and just annexing other states.
Mexico, as well as a lot of other coutries are PISSED OFF now though, and it takes a long time for provocation to wear down.
