I don't know if any of you were around to recall the last time we did this but it was pretty fun. The objective of the game is to divide up the map from the very start into equal countries for all the players whom would proceed to make their borders, construct their cities, towns and military. They were free to make alliances and trade. A lot of it was just building neat looking, efficient countries but of course there were plenty of conflicts. So, basically anyone with Empire Earth 2 or the expansion pack are welcome, we'll be using Hamachi to play together. We can start a game in and hour or two or however long it takes to get enough players, tomorrow or the next day if it's that difficult. Edited: Shit, I wanted to put up pictures from the last game but Photobucket is down. Alternately have a link to the Stream group from that golden time: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/facepunchnations These were the rules we used to have, I'll still have to review them and make changes from my past experience with these games: We also use an Honor system in our games. Basic Rules: * GM will establish borders. * Conflict is Forbidden unless a valid reason is stated to the GM. * GM has final say in all wars if he deems them appropriate. * Land may be sold to neighboring countries without GM consent. * Land may not be taken forcefully without GM consent. * A standing army is appropriate as long as it does not become excessive. Self Defense Army, Airforce and Maritime Navy are all acceptable. * Fences may only be built on your side of the line, the actual line it's self is neutral territory and only roads may be built connecting gates for the reason of trade. * In the event of war Civilians are strictly off limits to combat. Some civilian death is acceptable but overall there must be surviving civilians at the end of the war for the loser to rebuild. * Nukes are restricted, only GM may consent to nukes. GM may not own nukes unless there are other nukes in play for the purpose of regulation. * Open water is free. The water around the immediate shore of another country is restricted. No military ships may enter another countries waters without GM or player consent. * Massing troops or units at the border of another country that would be deemed excessive and not merely for the purpose of self defense is forbidden and will result in possible intervention depending on circumstances. * Air space above another country is off limits unless given player or GM consent. HOW TO JOIN A GAME Get on Hamachi, once the person who is hosting has said it is up, go to Multiplayer LAN CONNECT BY IP/DIRECT CONNECT and enter their IP which is shown on Hamachi. This is the basic procedure for every game we play, not just EE2.
But you left mid-game in almost all of them :v: Jokes aside, I might want in on this. I also made a mod for EE2 allowing more units to be constructed/player(allows us to make 999 units per player in total), total max would be 8000.
I'm interested, but I guess it depends how big the maps will be
This sounds fun. I missed playing EE2. I'm up for it. Epoc limit to modern times yeh? No Sci-fi crap.
I really liked the original EE, EE2 just wasn't the same to me really.
This sounds fun. I missed playing EE2. I'm up for it. Epoc limit to modern times yeh? [editline]22nd December 2012[/editline]
I'm interested, but I guess it depends how big the maps will be
We usually use a europe map and claim regions of it at the start of the game. Oh awesome. Also lol about me starting drama and leaving midway through the game last time we tried. Times are different now though. Anyway I'm up for a game anytime after X-mas.
I remember playing this on LAN with a friend. He was amazing at anything RTS. Bastard bombed me and my stone castles with fucking Apaches man! Yeah i hadn't epoched up enough yet
I want in. I joined the steam group, will you let me know when you're playing?
Oh god, I remember reading the original threads years ago, I want in!
"Get on Hamachi"
I'm a bit security paranoid about Hamachi, I'd personally feel safer using something like GameRanger, I'll get a copy paste of something I posted in another thread a few months back [editline]25th December 2012[/editline] To use GameRanger: Step 1: download it Step 2: Create your free bronze account, it's incredibly simple. Step 3: Add us to your friends list and tell the group your account ID and/or nickname. Step 4: Wait until we've got a game started and we can get you in here. Step 5: Play the game and have fun. Another important thing, right click on the GameRanger Icon, go to notifications and turn it to friends only, else you WILL regret it.

I prefer gameranger, shall we use that instead?
I'm up for this, but I can only play after Christmas. Is that okay?
Added Jeff_The_Hobo on Gameranger (unless any others can PM/post your username?) and I'm ready to go.
I'm ready to go nearly any time, I'm Jeff The Hobo on Steam as well, already joined the group.
Joined group and chat, awaiting download Also, hamachi or gameranger?

Well, that went well, normally I feel like a bureaucrat fighting against the red tape when I try talking a group into using GameRanger over Hamachi.
Gameranger is far superior
We've got a group of 4 people in the Steam group chat for Nation Building, anyone else want to join in? We're also looking for someone who can volunteer to be the GM. [editline]You're all douchbags[/editline] [del]We're having version trouble, a lot of versions of the game, installed from downloaders aren't compatible with the patchers, anyone on later versions may need to downgrade to 1.0 by reinstalling or possibly downloading the .exe from 1.0 (haven't tested it yet, don't know if it works)[/del] Doesn't Matter, after double checking, My copy of Empire Earth 2 is already at 1.2, just that the expansion I was checking with was saying it was at 1.0 Why can't they just share version numbers.
Would it be possible to join later on? I'm busy for the next 3-4 hours. If not, I don't wanna hold you guys back. We can play another round sometime.
Going to also need to use something other than Game Ranger, it keeps crashing on joining or setting up a game.
Going to also need to use something other than Game Ranger, it keeps crashing on joining or setting up a game.
That was a problem on a recent update, one of the preferences folders needs to be deleted. "user/appdata/roaming/gameranger/gameranger prefs"
Everyone should be on version 1.2, at least this is the version for which my mod is made.
That was a problem on a recent update, one of the preferences folders needs to be deleted. "user/appdata/roaming/gameranger/gameranger prefs"
Tried that, but according to one of the developers, it could be the video ads that load up while hosting, it seems to be people in the UK that are mostly affected, and since most ad's are shown depending on which country you're in, this seems much more likely, so we will have to wait for a fix.
I feel like joining you guys, but I have only played Empire Earth 2 like, once. Do you folks still have room?
Everyone should be on version 1.2, at least this is the version for which my mod is made.
[del]I guess that a good number of us will need to download a few .iso files to install a version of the game where the patch works, the gog.com version of the game I am using doesn't work. Uh, how do I get this game?
