Super Mario Bros. Crossover is a flash game that allows you to play through the original Super Mario Bros. game as any of seven different classic NES characters. Each character brings their own unique gameplay elements to the game.
Mario - Uses his classic controls. Is the only character who can run.
Link - Can attack in all four directions, throw boomerangs, and shoot sword beams with fire power.
Bill R. (Contra) - Can shoot in eight directions. Mushrooms and Fire Flowers make his gun very powerful.
Simon Belmont (Castlevania) - Can double jump. Uses a whip to attack enemies and can throw axes in a large arc.
Samus (Metroid) - Her arm cannon upgrades as you get power-ups. She can also use the Morph Ball to turn into a ball, roll around, and lay bombs.
Mega Man - Uses a powerful arm cannon that can charge shots at Mushroom or Fire Flower power. Can also slide. His jump is fairly low, but he can summon the Rush Coil to compensate with a high jump.
Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden) - Fairly weak while attacking but is easily the most nimble character with his ability to climb walls. Mushroom power gives him the Windmill Shiruken.
I'm going to be playing through Version 1.1, which added Ryu to the game, difficulty settings, cheats, and fixed various bugs.
