New HL2RP server, come check us out! - Games

This thread isn't forcing you to play it, so read along if you like. We're a starting community with a recently launched HL2RP, we banded together after a community we tried together had a bad owner, so we left and started our own. Unlike most HL2RP servers you come across, you don't donate for admin, or apply for power. All of our admins are hand-picked, great roleplayers and good people. Our server has the works of HL2RP, like the Civil Worker's Union, Vortiguants, and coming soon, scanners. We already have a lot of our factions threads (such as radio codes for the Combine Civil Authority) already done or in-progress, so if you've ever played HL2RP, you'll really enjoy us! And as an added bonus, a custom map is being developed for our server and our server only! One of your admins (Fowler) was my friend on Steam. He removed me simply because I said 'no' to one of his invites to HL2RP.

And random props would be on the map and it would break the skybox so it wouldn't be wise to use on a public server. I don't know how they did it. Anyways, I am the owner of this server and I want everyone to come out and try the server it is really fun and I think you would enjoy the server.

The people who are the authority on the server should not be allowed to be the authority. Poor roleplaying, they all fail to inform about anything and overall just bad roleplayers.

If not, I'm afraid I have to disagree with you, I've been on the server nearly the whole time since launch, and no funny business has occurred.

May I ask why you're doing HL2 RP? Is it because that's all you know and can't think of anything original. You know what? Don't answer that question, I just answered it for you. Seriously, I'm not trying to run your community here, but at least do something halfway original. There's hundreds of roleplay themes you could be doing, but instead resort to HL2 RP. You're no different than the other 25+ HL2 RP servers out there. Regardless of what you're running, I just don't see how Games in Progress is a good place to adverstise a serious roleplay community. The only things here are shitty Minecraft servers. Garry just needs to add the Servers section back to the GMod section. That would be so much better for the community. Edit: Nevermind. Garry finally figured out the only thing that was being posted in this section was Minecraft shit. Disregard anything I said about Minecraft servers. You might actually get a few players. That doesn't mean Garry shouldn't add the servers section back. But meh.

If you do something to make interesting roleplay, it's considered minging. When someone puts an HL2 RP server up, it not only lessens the amount of roleplayers willing to try something new, but it also gives the roleplay community a bad name. Look at Facepunch for example. I understand people will find out if they like it or not, but when the servers list is full of nothing but HL2 RP, it makes it harder for people to find other servers. A lot of old roleplayers have probably quit for that exact reason - it's just too damn difficult to find a community that isn't HL2 RP. Also, regarding your comment stating players know more than HL2 RP... You're right, some of them do. On the other hand, most don't. If you go ask the average HL2 RPer what Severance is, they'll say they don't know. You know why? Because everyone flocks to HL2 RP and can't/wont try anything new because that's all they know, or they can't find a server running an original idea. He has two vocoders?[/QUOTE] He is trying to make the sentence structure seem robotic almost as if it is running code in a sentence. Nonetheless in what way does this effect your role-play? And why don't you message an admin in game instead of saying that the server is shit because he is trying to make a character's sentence look different. Also, if you all are so against hl2rp and insist on a custom canon then please suggest some elements. Saying something is wrong and not providing a way to improve or fix it is pointless. It is as well frustrating to hear people bitching about ooc grammar, its ooc it necessarily doesn't directly effect your roleplaying in any way. So what someone makes a grammar error once in a while, your just using it as a way to bitch about a problem that really isn't a problem.

One day we were in a Skype call and we wanted to get people in my friend's server that I co-owned at the time. He literally never had people no matter how much he tried. So, this friend that I have messaged a bunch of his friends, and in maybe a few minutes, the server had fifteen people on. The moral of the story? It's now what you know, it's who you know. I can code this badass gamemode, but not have any interested friends to play it. For that, my server will not become populated. You're seriously dumb. I never once said I was right all the time. What in my posts even insinuates that? Suggestions don't mean shit if you're not willing to act on them. Sure, suggestions are good, but you said it yourself. You're not going to do it. Afterall, it's just a suggestion, right? My argument isn't invalid whatsoever.
