The New Frontier V2: Beyond Earth Feel free to ask me about whatever country you choose. STORY: READ THIS BEFORE APPLYING
The year is 2143. The Second Russo-Ukrainian War is slowly coming to a stop as both the sides are completely exhausted. The polarizing ideologies of the late Victorian era have reemerged and many are fearful that it will end in a final war that will end the dying Earth as we know it. The Earth, our home, has been completely exhausted of resources. Billions have died ever since the end of the relative peace of the mid 21st century and no one knows how long the Earth has until its final moment. Nuclear weapons have left much of the Earth devastated, though the newly created nuclear shield will hopefully prevent further nuclear escalation. The war has grinded on and on and the battlefields have turned into a muddy series of trenches, all sides constantly bombarding each other with chemical weapons. When population levels soared in the late 2080's, and resource deficits made the concepts of ground warfare backed by air and naval superiority impractical, the ideas that once dominated the Napoleonic Wars have returned. Human waves, men outfitted in hand-me-down gear of the dead and armed lightly charging and overwhelming static positions, assisted by the rare exo-suit or following mass tank strikes. Warfare has turned into a grinding process, with areas bombarded into nothing before thousands stampede the graves of those who once lived there before clashing uselessly against each other. For the bullet's an idiot, but the bayonet's a fine chap. With much of the world destroyed, and billions dead, the great powers have slowly begun to convene. There is no hope in continuing the great wars, and perhaps it's time for peace, before the war destroys us all. In response to the desolate state of the planet, the major powers have all begun looking towards space, the final frontier, and have found the last- best hope for humanity. A planet, far away but close enough for our use has been found. Called Votum by the populace of Earth, it holds everything necessary for Human life. A thriving ecosystem, temperate climates, clean water, ample minerals. It could very well be the next home for Humanity. The great powers are all gearing up to send their own expeditions, and the smaller powers are preparing their own space programs. Whether you wish to continue your fighting on Earth, bring it to the stars or create a new beginning, the future is yours. Russia was immediately counter-attacked by Poland, the Baltic States, Scandinavia, the UK, Canada and several other nations. China and Kurdistan joined Russia in the invasion soon after. The war has dragged on for 26 years, and has slowly turned into a meat grinder. China has left the war and America has pushed the Russians out of Alaska and into Russia proper. Chemical weapons have been fired constantly and the entire American west coast has seen the effects. Now the borders refuse to budge, the death tolls rise each day and the powers are quickly feeling the effects as their populace rise against the war. The opposing powers have finally met, seeking an end to the war.

Indian-Stani Border Skirmishes Begun: 2098 Casualties: 500,000 military and civilians Description: India and the Empire of the Stans both wish to expand into each others territory and tensions are extremely high. Border skirmishes are constant and the two countries have been at war in everything but name for a very, very long time. Many are anxiously waiting for the day when the two powers declare war on each other.

Serbian War of Unification Begun: 2138 Casualties: 2 million military and civilians Description: Serbia has launched a campaign of reunification for the entire Balkan peninsula. However, their advances were immediately halted by Bauer Germany as the Germans have stormed through the north. The war looks grim for the Serbians, who are now posturing for peace while undertaking a guerrilla war.

Kurdistani war of Expansion Begun: 2141 Casualties: 1.6 million military and civilians Description: In the wake of ISIS, Kurdistan struggled on and formed. What followed was the political puppeteering of dozens of greater powers, all using Kurdistan as their way to push their motives in the Middle East. When Russia reverted back to her Soviet roots, the huge Communist party of Kurdistan easily took power, and since the two have been allies. With Russian support, Kurdistan has extended rapidly, taking those lands inhabited by the Kurds and more in a push for Kurdistani supremacy of the Middle East, but as Russian support falters things have begun to look grim, and the Kurds are beginning to prepare for peace.
SPACE!:
Countries who can enter space from beginning: United States Canada (with US support) UKSP (Iberia) Bauer Germany Benalux Union The United Kingdom Scandinavia France The Free Russian Republic The People's Republic of China Japan India Countries who can enter space after a turn: Everyone else in Europe Everyone in South America Maghrabia Mexico The Central American States South African Union Israel Southeast Asian Co-prosperity Sphere Australia Third turn: Everyone else
How To Apply
Requested Nation: Flag: (250 x 150) Write Turn
How To Write A Turn (Max of 20 lines)
Military Actions: (invading, defending, expanding the army) Domestic Actions: (building things, propaganda campaigns, science) Political Actions: (making alliances, space colonies, embargoes) Economic Actions: (seize the means of production, cut taxes, give tax breaks) Covert Actions (Will not be revealed to players): (poison Palestine, destroy American bridges, burn a rug) Space Colonization (Remove if you've already gotten to Votum or you're not going this turn): Give me a picture of the specific area on the map you want, preferably cropped so it's not too large. Safely assume there are rivers and mountains and hills within the vicinity in most of the temperate areas, just not huge mountains like the other ones. More mountains generally marks mineral wealth, with the western continent being the most wealthy but also the most dangerous due to treacherous terrain, while the east is calmer but less mineral rich. Native life has been detected, though nothing advanced and nothing that would indicate intelligent life. However we haven't had long to monitor, and there's plenty we have missed. If you want to do something weird like colonize the seas that's fine but be prepared to have a very difficult time. Also if you do something stupid or the dice roll against you and your colony goes to shit, you can always relocate, or send a new colony elsewhere. Finally, scientists have detected odd anomalies, radio bounce backs on the planet. It could mean anything, but scientists are very politely requesting you make research bases on top of those.

Hi. What is this? I saw it and I wanted to know. Thanks.
Hi. What is this? I saw it and I wanted to know. Thanks.
http://facepunchrp.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_RPs It's one of Facepunches many RPs. You write me a turn (format listed) and at the end of a week or so, I write a summary of what everyone did and how it effects the world. Think of a written Europa Universalis or Crusader Kings game, or a strategy slow paced D&D.
Thank you for your response. I do not think I am interested but I will look at this after a time.

You said we can play as Corporation, but can we play as PMC? Private Military Company?
South Africa again! :D

USA goooo
A note on colony success before anyone complains to me of favoritism like last time: I'm going to be rolling dice (10 sided) to decide how well your colony goes every turn. You'll lose or gain numbers on the roll depending on where you settle, what happens in your colony and how you react to it. IE: (these numbers are random and don't reflect the final one) Base roll: 6 (average, nothing too good or bad happens) Arctic: -3 Giant Space Bats: -3 Laser defenses: 2 Roll: 2 (your colony gets messed up)
Imperial wanted me to let you guys know that turns are due asap and that it will be written on saturday
So within this week, I got strep, two pink eyes, a cold, an ear infection, and my computer died. Understandably, the turn got a bit delayed. I'm writing it now though, having just fixed my computer, so get your turns in ASAP. Anything not sent by the time I'm finished won't be included.

I had a lengthy cold myself. ;)
SEND IN NEXT TURN AS TURN 2 Turn Music: Turn 1 October - December 2143 [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/BCDM5Y.png[/t] World Events The flickering fires of the Third World War finally die off, leaving behind an Earth scorched by war. Even lands that have not been turned into wastelands from the all consuming flames of nuclear war are little better, industrial yards having been built in order to squeeze out what little resources remain on the once fertile world. Animals no longer flock the forests, even those that would have been called common now living in little more than zoos, even the alpha beast, Humanity, seemingly beginning to die. From the metropolises spanning the American east coast to the shanty towns of refugees in what's left of Ukraine, life slowly begins to normalize. People walk the streets, no longer rushing from door to door in case a bomb were to fall upon them, and although the damage is irreversible, many pray for a future, any future, something that was difficult to do as war still raged. There is hope however. The first in a long time. Ships have slowly left the Earth, soldiers, scientists, settlers, all saying goodbye to their home. For the first time, humanity is leaving for the stars, and no matter what they find, many believe it will be better than what they have left behind. The distant horizons of Votun are like a final chance to start anew. If Humanity can be given a fresh start, maybe we can flourish. But who is to say? -The Third World War ends in the Conference of Kiev. A long table sits on the shattered base of what was once the Rodina-Mat, once over 60 meters tall, one can now simply step onto the broken concrete of what was once the statue, and walk past without ever realizing it once sat on the spot. Delegations from all over the planet are gathered here, the city chosen for its symbolic value as possibly the worst affected area on the planet. The radiation has died down enough from the initial nuclear blast nearly thirty years prior, and television footage shows grim faced world leaders signing documents, the shells of what were once buildings standing only meters high. In the end, neither side has gained anything. -With the war ending, the global economies free fall begins to slow. Still dropping rapidly, it is nevertheless an improvement over the past few years. -Radiation clouds from the American west coast and Eastern Europe begin to spread, ruining the planets crop production as much of the world is bathed in ash. Many look to space as the last hope as many predict mass famine will be the next big killer on the planet. -As the Germans push into Serbia, one of their combat drones asks why it has to go charge into enemy fire while the regular soldiers wait. The drone is immediately gunned down, and the rest of the drones in the local regiment are shut down as engineers immediately begin checking all drones in service to the army, finding no other signs of sentience. Regardless, the German public go into a panic, as does much of the world, and many drones are destroyed in the middle of their daily protocols out of fear. Many call for the 'unrobotization' of the militaries of the world, but as drones tend to single handedly hold up said militaries support systems, this is almost impossible. -Japanese explorers find an unusual set of rock spires in the northeast arctic of the planet. Hundreds of columns of rough rock sticking out of the ground, scientists wish to explore these to discover their odd origin, but as of now there has been no investigation due to efforts being focused elsewhere. -Scientists also observe odd signals coming from the northern icecaps. No one knows exactly where they originate from, despite a lack of exploration of this, scientists are already debating on the origin. -Fauna on the planet is abundant, temperate zones being filled with life and plants. The English have landed on a relative breadbasket while the other factions have begun finding other uses in their colonies. -The Chinese, Russians, Americans, Indians, Japanese, Scandinavians and French all put down colonies on Votun with varying degrees of success. -The British and Benaluxians also put down colonies, but the British colony disappears in flight and the Benalux colony is seen crashing down by New Hokkaido, and their fate is unknown. -The Benalux Union sends a formal request to the Japanese government to send a search team for their men if they get the chance. Republic of Japan - Griffster26 -The JGSDF digs into Hokkaido as the Russians do likewise, waiting grimly in case the peace talks in Kiev failed. However, the peace talks go successfully, and the Russians soon leave the shattered ruins of the island, discontent at having lost hundreds of thousands of men for what ultimately amounted to nothing. Japanese troops soon occupy the former Russian bases and transfer their remaining POWs. -Although peace has been declared, the prime minister of Japan, Mika Nakahara, is ousted in a coup by the JSDF due to a failure to gain anything out of the war and the failure to block the Russians from Hokkaido in the first place. With Mika quickly being arrested, the emperor is exiled from the country and the JSDF's leaders declare a new republic. General Takehiko Kobayashi declares himself the new prime minister, and Lieutenant General Saburou Honda is made the deputy prime minister. The new parliament, the National Council of Defense and Sovereignity, is little more than a military junta and immediately receives condemnation from the free world. -In response, a mix of royalist and democratic protesters take to the streets, and a protest turned bloody by the military later, open rebellion breaks out. The Japanese people are weary from war and the military is largely in support of General Kobayashi, and the rebellions soon peter out. Instead, a quiet resistance begins to form, supported by the former emperor, who now resides in Korea. -Economic reform is quickly passed, with the wastelands of Hokkaido being built over by the Japanese industrial machine. It is costly, supplies are low and workers tend to step on landmines, but slowly the increased industrial output begins helping shove the economy forward. -Under the new republic, astronauts are sent out for Votun. The settlers land in the small chain they call New Ryukyu, and they name the larger island nearby New Kyushu. They claim sovereignity of the islands from their basecamp, soon to be the colonial capital, known as Amanoshi, or 'city of heaven'. -The settlers do exceptionally well, and manage to quickly branch out from Amanoshi. Although much of their initial landing spot remains untouched, or even seen by the explorers, they find little to match them and markers soon trace the outline of an area roughly the size of Corsica. -The Japanese find fertile land to be abundant and small farms are setup, while the colonial guards enjoy hunting the native fauna. A six legged creature, called the Akabeko by the guards, is the first animal killed. Large and fat, and seemingly tranquil (though afraid of Humans with good reason), reports tell that the animal is delicious, and many are soon slaughtered. Scientists are curious if they can be domesticated, though so far they do not have the supplies to do so. -Additionally, a soldier marking the perimeter of the colony reports seeing a gorilla like creature. The fearful soldier claims the creature stood on the opposite side of a valley, glared at him, before turning and walking into the underbrush. The soldiers now tell tales of the Hibagon that lives in the woods before them. Nobody is sure if it really exists. -Within a few days, the calm tranquility of the slowly expanding colony is disrupted by the sound of a massive boom and crack, as a ship breaks the atmosphere. Another colony ships flies past in the sky, flames leaking from an engine, before coming down somewhere in the far east. Distress signals in Flemish soon disappear as the ship leaves range of the colonies short range radios. As reports home are generally around four months apart, nobody knows what has become of the ship. -Finally, while viewing the horizon from a large hill, the scientists noticed a sickly green light on the far horizon, in the direction of the large island they call New Honshu, and the anomaly in the bay, which still bounces back any radio signals to it. South African Union - Satansick -Troops move to the northern borders, accompanied by hundreds of infantry, tank and air drones, fresh off the assembly line of South Africa's factories. The country has gone through a sudden militarization, and many are worried that although the world conflict is over, Africa shall soon be consumed by another. -In response, the governments of Mozambique, Rhodesia and Angola all meet the South African troops at the border with their own men, and a DMZ begins to form. -Spaceships are built in the factories as well. Not quite ready to actually reach Votun, but hopefully in a few months. It's built with a lot of stuff that doesn't exist, like scanners that can see the planets mineral composition or advanced ship based combat lasers, but it's functional and will soon be lifting off. -However, its crew is less stellar. Prisoners are dragged out of their cells and thrown into a bootcamp to teach them how to survive in space and on the new colony. Their loyalty is a joke and the quality is even less, and the countries trained astronauts are wondering what the fuck is going on. -History is dropped from school curriculum's in what some panicking and soon mysteriously dead historians call a move to a 1984 style future. Along with them, the opposition leader is also found dead. -Finally, tax breaks are given to farmers who use 'sustainable' methods. Since most food nowadays is made in a factory, there aren't many to appreciate it. India - Native Hunter -The Indian Marine Corps is expanded for future missions to space, and nearly triples in size with the careful addition of drafts and cajoling of minorities. -They see action against Nepal and Bhutan, who fight the Indians in a quick border skirmish before the Indian military occupies the two countries with no prior reason. The invasion receives widespread condemnation, and the Nepalese and Bhutanese governments in exile are more confused, as the three countries had always had very good relations. India receives widespread condemnation. -An alliance is then offered with Burma, which Burma rejects, citing the untrustworthiness of the Indians after their recent betrayal of Bhutan and Nepal. -Tax breaks are soon after given to the richest of Indians to support space development, though most just squander the funds, which have little restrictions, on themselves. Private space companies in India tend to be little more than skeleton companies, doing little besides sucking up government funds. The massive amount of poor in India decry the practice. -Despite this, the colony of Shangri-La is founded on the western island of Votun. The colonists are mostly farmers and laborers, with a large contingent of guards to ensure their safety. The vice prime minister also joins them, choosing to lead from the ground. -Solar energy becomes the name of the game, and small factories are designed to help create some must have supplies that the colony quickly uses up. Without mining facilities, there isn’t much to build with however. -Despite this, the colony is created with the idea of agricultural production, and the prefabricated buildings are designed in a way to facilitate large farms.
