• Universal Decay- Because I am looking for something new in Gmod :/

[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/IfeysVS.jpg[/IMG] Hey guys I was thinking about a new gamemode idea for Garry's Mod. I bring to you Universal Decay! This gamemode would not be based around DarkRP, but PostNukeRP. Anyhow here is some lore I quick improvised- ---------- Basically you as a player survived the apocalypse which took place during the [I]Space Age[/I]. During this futuristic time period Earth as we know it has fallen completely due to the Ozone layer becoming too thin.However, humanity won't give up that easily. Using the remaining advanced technology invented during living civilization you and other survivors must go and scavenge the universe for a new home. Unfortunately a lot of resources, technology and other useful things were destroyed along with Earth. However, it's not as easy as you may think. Humans learned much about Space over time. You're not alone, and not safe. Mysterious creatures dwell on certain planets throughout the Universe. Because of these dangers you must create space suits, weapons, ships and other necessities to kick start humanity once more. Good luck! ---------- Gamemode Specs/Details: **If there is an X in the brackets then it's [B][U]DONE[/U][/B]** [X] Get permission from creator of PNRP to use it as a base [] Get pictures or something to show you guys of any progress (None yet this is a idea I want your golden feed back!) [] Permanent Armor System for Spacesuits [] Create futuristic weapons (SWEP Creator??) [] Gravity System for Planets and such (Like Spacebuild!) [] Currency would be based around resources [] Create special events [] Which SNPCs should I use? (NextBOT based ones) [] Make a better lore or add onto it

[] Make a better lore or add onto it[/QUOTE] The fact that you're talking about using SWEP Creator to create unconventional "futuristic" type weapons and asking about which SNPCs to use makes me think that you're probably a bit inexperienced Maybe you should try a less ambitious project first? Or experiment with making your own AIs and weapons before you do a large undertaking like this
The story is very interessing. I might follow your progress on this gamemode. [QUOTE=pogh10;49003613][] Currency System or just use Resources as currency?[/QUOTE] You should go for "Resources as currency" because if the Earth is "destroyed" as you described it, money won't have any values for humanity during this apocalypse, only sharing precious stuff would be valuable (eg. SWEP Creator can't really be used to make "future weapons" though. It's pretty much just a template-filler that uses Buu's Base. It would work if you wanted to make contemporary weapons but you've made it clear that's not your aim.

Also thank you and everyone else for the feed back. [editline]28th October 2015[/editline] Would it be stupid to use a Spacebuild map to begin with, and then just create a simple script where gravity is enabled on certain planets, but disabled everywhere else? Although this is a cheap way out I think it could work. Space maps + Hammer = extremely difficult
Space Build maps seem like a good place to start. I'd reccommend using some of the "sci fi" weapon models from CSS banana (look up stuff like Ultra Railgun and Babel Industries stuff, the models can be pretty cool) and then build off of a base. Unfortunately you're still going to have to do quite a bit of scripting yourself unless you make them generic bullet weapons.
