Scrap Metal = 2x Weapon/Stuff (in the best case)
Reclaimed Metal = 3x Scrap Metal
Refined Metal = 3x Reclaimed Metal
Random hat = 3x Refined Metal
x = Weapon/Stuff
a = Scrap Metal
b = Reclaimed Metal
c = Refined Metal
d = Random hat
a = 2x
b = 3a
c = 3b
d = 3c
So d = 3*3*3*2*x
Which results to d = 54x
So I'd have to use 54 Weapons/Gadgets to create a simple hat?! And a random one at that?
(Well my calculation might be wrong, it's summer break)
You're correct.
You... are my number one...
God, you folks and you complicated math sequences.
You're correct.
Damn it. Isn't there any other way to get a hat except for idling?
I mean, if I'd want a hat for a specific class I would have to use d = 4c + Class token which would result to 72 Weapons/Gadgets + Class Token.
I can't believe people have more than one hat.
I got 2 random drops and crafted 5
54x5 is?
270?

Well, you don't have to craft a hat. You could just wait for a drop.

Oh wow. This is so noobish but here goes:
HATS DROP?! :frown:
HATS DROP?! :frown:
No. Valve just pretends that hats drop to torture you like holding a carrot in front of a rabbit on a hamster wheel.

At a very low chance
I've never gotten a random hat drop....

Two or three months for a class hat,I killed my backpack in the golden wrench event,only saved one refined,and now I only need a simple refined to get a class hat,if you play regularly you can get your hat in 2 or 3 months getting 8-12 items per week
Don't be complaining about 54 items, it used to be 80-something when Scrap cost 3 weapons.
Like 3.4% out of 100% chance.
That can't be right, are you sure it's not lower?
Oh wow. This is so noobish but here goes:

Well I got my first hat drop when I wasn't even playing.
At a very low chance
I have 4 drops and 1 craft.... in three months... I'm sorry guys I really am.

Most times it's lower than that. Last week I got 5 items
I wish VALVe would make the Hat drop rate similar to the item drop rate. Well, the chance, not the actual rate.
So, it would be like this.
At random intervals, you have a chance to find your next item in either 15, 50, or 75 minutes. (I'm not certain, I know it's similar)
At random intervals, you have a chance to find your next hat in either 1, 2, or 3 months.
Good idea?

No....
The items are dropped(chance of) randomly every minute.
And if I didn't play for 3 months would I get a hat right away?
Or is it a month of play time? :crossarms:

It's better than it used to be, I believe it was something like 80 something items for a random drop and like 120 for a specific hat

In theory it's better, but it actually isn't since there is a drop cap.
Well I got my first hat drop when I wasn't even playing.
I got my first hat drop after about 2-and-a-half years, I'm so proud. After 2 years and 7 months I crafted my first hat. Yay.
So I am so lucky to have 4 hat drops (including three at the same time) ?
Oh wow. This is so noobish but here goes:
HATS DROP?! :frown:
I never had a hat drop, and then I got 2 in a row, hatless sniper and the jarate rag. :argh: Crafted both for Noble assortment of hat.
But yes, your calculations are correct OP.
It told you on the wiki......
Thats the old drop system.
The OLD system was a roll of the dice every 25 mins. Clockwork. NOW it is seemingly random with a cap (also random?)
In theory it's better, but it actually isn't since there is a drop cap.
It's better, because now all the people get drops regularly. I remember I didn't get a drop for weeks. It's not perfect, but way better than the old.
Getting 54 weapons doesn't take much time at all.
A month at most. (At least this is the case for me, I get 10-20 items per week.)
I had just crafted my first hat and was extremely disappointed with a bonk helmet, then the Safe 'N Sound (The hat I've wanted all along) dropped only moments later.
