• TF2 Texture issue

So I have a friend who just bought TF2 a few weeks ago and is having a fairly major issue with his graphics. Whenever the game renders water (I'm fairly sure this is the cause) all of a sudden off of his textures switch to the wrong surfaces. While the world geometry stays the same, the textures are ALL fucked up and it is frankly sickening and disturbing and impossible to play on. I have tried making several changes to fix this (running it in DX8, changing launch options, changing graphics options in game, updating drivers) but none of them have worked. He currently has the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (512mb) and I am unsure of his other components but I know they meet requirements. As I mentioned before this only seems to happen after the game tries to render water, up to that point the game runs smooth and beautiful. While I do not have a screen shot of the error an example of what happens is that once water is rendered the sky texture will render on a wall, the chat bubble will render on the floor, and medic skin will render on the ceiling and so on and so forth. Any help on this would be very, well, helpful. Thanks. NOTE: I have checked the dev console and there are NO I repeat NO error messages when this happens.
It's overheating, by the sounds of things.
Clean up the case, check temperatures, stuff.
Overheating is pretty sick as far as "things that can go wrong." I had a hard drive die from the heating problem, so I lost alot of data. But, I traded in the old piece of crap 500GB HD for a new 1.5TB, so it isn't all bad. Oh, and make sure his fans are working inside the case. Any on the power supply in particular, had THAT break on me once.
