• Idea to make the gunboats more useful

One simple addition: Killing if you land on someone's head. if this is too overpowered, make it stun players, like the sandman used to. The boots are big and heavy looking, so this makes sense.
Even better would be to make them a misc item with a nerf, that way more soldiers will use them as they won't have to give up an important weapon. Killing someone sounds a bit supid, that and it's not obvious if a soldier has gunboats (well unless he's flying around everywhere).

Removing that limitation would make gunboats an upgrade.

instant killing would be so fucking OP. Removal of fall damage with 10x (numbers could be changed) the fall damage you would normally have without the gunboats will be inflicted to the enemy would be better.
Am I the only one that thinks gunboats are fine as they are? Try using a little bit of discretion with direct hit and gunboats are kickass Or jump into crowds with equalizer you'd be suprised how effective it is Don't put it in misc slot you'll kill solly civillian :crying:
If you have the DH you pretty much have to use the shotgun,so you are a n00b
I use the Gunboats because it suits my main tactic when playing as Soldier: Shock and awe, jump up into the air and spam down hellfire.
You can kill people anyway if you land on them hard enough from a sticky/rocket jump.
if they made them misc it defeat the point of that slot, its purely accessory, cos then you get people bitching they want there camera beard to have some form of stat or even his medal. There fine as they are.
Or let you fucking craft them as class weapons :argh:

Stun with a slight damage when falling on enemy. Brilliant idea.

How about a small shock wave that stuns people a la Sandman (they can still run away) when the Soldier hits the ground?
I think you should be able to taunt jump again. I think that was a great way to make the gunboats more useful.
I can just imagine stepping outside on 2Fort then running back inside as 15 soldiers all rain down from the sky.

My only problem with them is that there's no point in using them if the map doesn't have many places to rocket jump. Which is sadly a majority, especially all of the most played ones at least :/

Works pretty well.[/QUOTE] Yeah, with the Gunboats, if you know how to do some advanced rocket jumps, you can do some trick jumps over your enemies and confuse the fuck out of them. One thing that people don't seem to understand is that with the Gunboats, you are SUPPOSED to rocket jump EVERYWHERE. I bet you that with practice on maps like Badlands, you could get to the center point at about the same time as a Scout and use that to hold off the Scouts while a line forms behind you.
We need Mario style tf2!
Hurt, but not kill/stun. As the guy above said, it'd turn Tf2 into Super Mario and it'd be too easy to kill people. Everyone would become goombas.
