• Purchasable Hat's not being blown up enough?

I'd expect more of a shitstorm starting over this, I'm not just talking about the FP forums of course. I do see the 'Money = ingame advantage' thread, but honestly the opinions in there surprise me. People don't seem as phased as I thought they would be. I mean this is not unlike what Bobby Kotick is doing, and people hate the living shit out of him. Now we all know Valve is a great company, and there reputation shouldn't be slandered off just this one mistake. It can all still be reversed, I hope. Game balance has gone to shit, and this is a terribly greedy way to make money in all honesty. Perhaps Kotick really is influencing other major companies to follow the business model he enjoys using. I mean if Valve went as far as to do this, something I wouldn't think they would consider in a hundred years, then what will happen next?
Money Money Money Money!! thats why i lost an idol today
the gaeming industry is doomed!!! D:
for sure!
unless this is a PR stunt, we can expect the same thing to happen to all future Valve games
At least the asian F2P MMO's wouldn't go so low as to sell shit that gives an extreme advantage to other players :xd: <3 asia ^_^
balance is shitty.
I was a little mad when I saw them, but when I realized that it's exactly like before except that you can buy items to receive instant gratification, I calmed down. Everything, you can get through waiting. Even those dueling minigames, you can get randomly. It's all just Valve trying to make money off stupid people, which I'm perfectly fine with.
I honestly dont care, they've released free updates for 2 years, they deserve to get some money out of this.
I mean this is not unlike what Bobby Kotick is doing, and people hate the living shit out of him.
I hate him because he talks out his ass I could care less about his business practices, though I will hypocritically insult him for them because I hate him in the first place.
If any other companies except valve did this, there would have been a bigger shit storm. I find the idea of purchasable hats or weapons stupid and the really high prices that comes with them makes it all worse.
I honestly dont care, they've released free updates for 2 years, they deserve to get some money out of this.
Yeah, free content for over 2 years and they've even sold the game for pennies. They deserve to be making some money off of all the hard work that to this day they keep pouring into it.
This hasn't changed anything. All the things that you can get through microtransactions that actually have perks, you can also find/craft. This changes the balance not one bit. Stop crying.
You can't get the hats though
You can't get the hats though
But the hats are purely cosmetic.
I think I requested a choice to buy items once. Didnt mean it to have no trade no craft, but hey, Im content.
But the hats are purely cosmetic.
Were, purely cosmetic. See the Polycount hats.
This is the worst update yet. Not only are they selling shit, they sell it at terribly high prices. I don't care if items are cosmetic or not, this is not some korean f2p mmo. And some hats now give bonuses too, so it's not purely cosmetic anymore. Again, this is like a korean mmo. You can buy it right now or grind for ages to get it. I am very disappointed in valve with this update. But what does valve care, people will keep licking their assholes anyway. Just like with COD series. No matter what shit you do, fanboys will continue licking ass.
Valve has supplied us with 2 years of free content and they will continue to give us free content. You don't need to buy any of the items. You could just wait or not care at all and get a random drop and spend $0. If your the impatient kind, go buy it then. They're giving you the option.

Not only it drops once per year, it drops crap you don't even need.
Don't play tf2 too often anymore, but bought the soldier polycount pack as a "Thanks Valve for being so awesome over the years."
Because of this update, I as someone who tries to get their stuff into the game, somewhat feel distant from the Tf2 team. I know that I have now a chance of even getting money for what I can create, but somehow that doesn't motivate me. Quite the opposite, now I don't want to make models. I don't want to make new items, because it' seems like it will now be all about the money and not for the sheer joy of having your stuff officially, in a real game that you can buy. Not about dreaming about getting yourself killed by an opponent that holds the weapon you created... It's just business now. It makes me sad a bit.
Korean MMO. The drop system is terrible. Not only it drops once per year, it drops crap you don't even need.
You don't necessarily need the drops to get any of the weapons, which is the only thing that affects gameplay. The achievements milestones are there for a reason. The useless crap you can find can be used to craft other weapons that needs to be crafted. Hats don't really matter because it does nothing to change the gameplay.
Protip: the reason this shit is so expensive is because Valve doesn't want people to buy it. They want you to get the items through gameplay, which, by the way, you still can, meaning you don't get a major advantage by buying them. Even then, there's still balance: snipers who are immune to headshots can't headshot others and are vulnerable to fire, soldiers with sentry protection have no shotgun and less rockets in a clip, scouts with more health have no secondary weapon and a primary that's weaker in close range, faster pyros are more vulnerable to bullets and do less damage, and spies with faster cloak times can't disguise and are more prone to bumping into others.
As soon as the hats are removed from the set bonus, it will be perfectly balanced. Right now you have to buy the hats.
As soon as the hats are removed from the set bonus, it will be perfectly balanced.
As soon as the hats are removed from the set bonus, it will be perfectly balanced. Right now you have to buy the hats.
Valve is adding crafting recipes specifically for the Polycount hats.
