ARGH TRADING AND STEAM WALLET TO BUY HATS :C
and look at the flamethrower, it's utter shit.
Why would anyone ever use the new spy knife.
No disguise, and what you get is that your kills make no sounds. okay.
"Some items can never be found or crafted, only bought"

Buy hats now :c its bad and its good i cant decide

Valve said they would only do that with cosmetic items though.
Hmm... Is this update good or bad? Rate agree or disagree.
In my opinion this update is awesome, now i can finally trade my hats!
I couldn't care less about the in-game store, if people are so desperate to get items them let them pay. Good for them, good for Valve.
I didn't really understand that: faster weapon switch?
Valve said they would only do that with cosmetic items though.
Except you still need the hat to have the "Set Bonus." Bullshit.
Why would anyone ever use the new spy knife.

I would. Derringer, that knife and that revolver...beastly Spy >:D
Depends on you playstyle, buy I rarely disguise/cloak, only disguise if a sentry is near or if I can get away with it easily.
buy the hat?
At first when I heard of them adding microtransactions I was somewhat angry but now that I've read through what they're planning, I am OK with this. The good outweighs the little bad that there is.
Valve is such a hypocrites. Selling items now, how low of them.
TF2 just died for me. I'll stay play it, but I'm disappointed. Agree?
Im a bit sad. I think its good but bad :C
So rich people gets more items.
What the fuck happened with TF2?
Everyone needs to let this play out for a bit.
I am reserving my opinion of it until I see how it generally works.

Plus, this pretty much describes how the items are still obtainable:
Q: Does this mean the updates are over? Are you going to stop releasing free content now?
A: No. Our plan is to continue updating TF2 just like we always have, adding free maps, game modes, new features, and more. The Mann Co. Store is simply an alternative way of obtaining items that other players can earn during gameplay.
Q: Are you going to start charging for other kinds of content, like maps?
A: No, we have no plans to do this. Segregating players into groups that can't play together, based on who bought what, is something we'd like to avoid.
Q: Will I have to spend money to remain competitive?
A: No. Any items affecting gameplay, and even most purely cosmetic items, will still be obtainable simply by playing the game.
Q: Did you adjust the drop rates for existing items?
A: No. We haven't made it any harder to obtain existing items through gameplay.
We can still find the items, but you can purchase them too. Maybe you want a hat or another rare drop -- now you can purchase it if you do not want to wait.
Any "purely cosmetic" items will obviously not include items included in a pack like the polycount items, where having them will affect something other than the looks.
People need to give the change some time before instantly dismissing it as a negative change.
The flamethrower looks great, use it with the axetinguisher.

So, no microtransactions exclusive items?
Remember when they were messing with us when Left 4 Dead 2 was announced? Remember when they were messing with us when TF2's Halo and Earbuds were coming out? THEY NEVER MESS AROUND.
But the halo really messed with us. :v:
So, no microtransactions exclusive items?
There might be, but they won't affect the gameplay. They will be pureley cosmetic and probably most, if not all, will be from contributors.
This is an easy way for Valve to more readily include contributors into the scene. People won't buy bad items and items from the community that deserve to be in-game will prove themselves, all while cutting the author some profit.
So much for hats being cosmetic.
Why would anyone ever use the new spy knife.

The disguise is useless mostly except for sentries, this on the other hand makes you instantly disguise on backstab and is silent. It seems like a fair trade off.
my vintage vintage tyrolean is now rare

Personally, I think the TF2 community is spoilt. Valve releases a free update with bundles of new content and the best thing anyone can say is complain about how x is too powerful/weak or how y is useless and crap.
And now because Valve are opening up new, interesting opportunities to get content into the game - but also because it's not free - people are bound to complain. It's not even obligatory, anything that can be bought can be earned for free anyway. But because they don't get exactly what they want right away, the community will bitch and whine over Valve's hard work.

I personally wouldn't state it this way, but this does happen a lot.
Still, we all need to be patient with this change. If the system is flawed, it will be obvious after a little time. Not everyone will like the change -- I certainly do not want to pay for items -- but the idea is to appease the most amount of people and advance/update TF2 to allow for great new content, faster. This system really helps with contributions by the community to the game. It is shaping itself even more so around the people that play and not just the people that make. If I can find something in game, I will not buy it. If you are truly against the idea, then do not buy it if you can find it.
The only thing that could go wrong with a system like this is to offer items in the store, but not the game, that affect gameplay.
OH BOY I SURE DO HOPE THE NEW PYRO FLAMETHROWER HAS A GASOLINE TRAIL ALTERN
At first I was pretty disappointed by this apparent sell out behaviour but after a little think it is pretty obvious why they are doing it...
If trading was implemented without the option to buy things then people would head straight to ebay and start buying/selling things anyway, keeping valve completely out of the loop. As I believe happens in every online RPG ever.
Selling things officially is a way to put a price cap on things and stop trading sending everything all black market.
Besides, you can still craft all these items by using the usual 2 item community items method anyway. (http://www.teamfortress.com/mannconomy/FAQ/)
Yes, some people will just buy everything, but would you rather they did it via ebay or Valve?
