Haven't played TF2 in a while, decided to get back into it for a bit, I see everyone using the new weapons so I figure it'd be more interesting if I had them too. The old TF2 Unlocker (around 91kb) doesn't seem to work keeps saying "Steam is not running".
Is there an unlocker out there that still works? I've found two separate ones the old (91kb) one and the updated one in [url=http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=558371]this thread[/url]. However that one gives me a runtime error when I go to select the game and I do have .NET 3.5 installed.
I wouldn't recommend it. Valve already know about it, if they have a way to know if you used it they will do something like, reset your achievements, or something like that. Remember the Idler ? Well most people got their idled items removed.

I understand your concern, but it's worth a try. After all I've gotten 4 classes worth of items in a single instant with the old unlocker with no reciprocations and a few people in-game recommended I use an unlocker so I think I'll give it a shot. I doubt they'll ban me or suspend my account.
You'll lose all your shit if you use it.

go farm them in an achievement server, or earn them the good and hard way.
If you haven't played in a while it would be good to ease back into it by doing some good ol' farming.
You won't lose anything. Valve won't reset anything.
I've used unlockers for each class update and I still have my achievements.
Why do you need the unlocker? The day the war update came out i made a server and got all the weapons with bots.
It's cheating, but valve can't do anything to you that way.

You all are way too paranoid about Papa Valve. It's very unlikely you'd get punished for using the unlocker at this point. They punished a select few people by taking away their items for two weeks, but this was a pretty small portion of the people who used the program.
Personally I like to farm mine, the one time I used the unlocker I played TF2 that night and stopped for a good 2 months. That and the harder achievements are a lot more fun to actually earn.
I got my Medic items using a program back when you had to get all 31 achievements. I never got punished for it, but that doesn't mean I'm proud of it. You'll regret it eventually - if you have a conscious.

what if we idle? does that affect you?
I'm not saying you'll get punished, but it's possible.
Anyway, if you really want to do it.. Also, I'm sure it's not VAC bannable, so if Valve is going to punish, it won't be something that bad..

Woooow, I asked a very simple question and all I get is a bunch of opinionated dimwits? Please point out in the OP, where I asked for your opinion as to whether or not I should use a program so that I can promptly correct it.
Farming is not a gameplay element in a FPS, and in my opinion should not be in any game because its a waste of your life. I seek entertainment, I already paid for the game, I'm not spending hours and hours trying to unlock shit that I should already have.
But the reasons why I do it don't matter, because this is not an opinion thread, this is a answer my question thread. So take your opinion to a relevant thread. You act like this is your first time on internet forums; I shouldn't have to explain to you how they work.

It still works, I use it for every update.
To everybody else: stop being paranoid. The most they've ever done is remove the items unlocked with it for one week, then they returned them. There wasn't a stern warning about how using it again would result in a VAC detection like the idler. In fact, it hasn't been mentioned since that incident with the scout update ([url]http://tf2.com/post.php?id=2293[/url])
you need to update the version of the achievement manager for it to work, i think the latest now is version 5.2
i used it when demo and solly update came out, but i didnt unlock all of achievements at once, just maybe 10 or 12 just to get all the new unlocks

When you bought the game you were given 29 weapons and items to play with. If that's not enough for you, maybe you should actually go ingame and do the achievements, instead of sitting on Facepunch and spewing out 'lol lrn2form' whenever somebody expresses their opinion on the topic at hand.

That's like complaining that you don't get the good weapons in games until you're halfway though.
I have no problem with you using cheats mind, though why couldn't you just google it and save the hassle of being moaned at?
