I know you're going to hate hearing what I'm about to say, but most of the Games moderators have our minds set on what needs to be done with the section. That said, it's still unfair to do this without telling you guys in advance, so here's the low down: • [del]We don't need threads for every update; it's messy, and we don't need to have the older threads bumped. We either keep this rule the way it is, and we'll have to lock all the old update threads... or we can just have one update megathread. [/del][Settled to be left alone] That might be a bit easier to swallow than the next one: • We're going to be merging a few threads in the section; this includes the trading threads, as well a few other threads in the section which share some sort of common purpose. It makes no sense to have a general trading thread with all of the extremely specific trading threads in the section... so we're merging them. [Still Pending, Lowest settled at "merging the most unnecessary/ common purpose threads" ] Let me clarify, no more specific threads, but I'm not aiming for having one giant thread. We only need some broad topic threads List of things being done (in subject to change & added): • Free Hats and Items Thread is just going to be axed and it will now become a privilege to post in any trading thread to give away a free item or 'limited to ratings' raffle. Ex: Want to give away a unusual? do it in the Unusual Thread. & No more quoting to enter a raffle, just ratings. • Mega raffles (Free or Fee) will still be allowed but classified as events. Meaning the thread shouldn't last for more than a month. • Both Paint.net "what annoys you/ what you like" - Settled to be left alone • Both Price checks are getting merged -Done • Both Trade item for X is getting merged -Done • "What should I name my X" is getting merged with Item Customization Thread - Done [del]The real fun is guessing which threads make the cut.[/del] We'll be wanting your feedback. :pwn: Remember ~22 days it all happens Original Date: AUG 22nd, 2011 Amount of off-topic posts made since the 1st of august: 9 Date till FHaIT is removed: AUG 13th, 2011

We're all going to die.
Item Customization thread and the "What Should I paint/name/whatever" thread have required a merge for such a long time... e: oh, and I quite enjoy the update threads. If there was one big megathread, if there were new posts, I would never know if it was because a new update was posted or people were just discussing one that already exists..
Can we get a rule on trying to profit off of programs? Possibly?

You wont be able to keep track of all the updates in one thread with all the posting going on, and it would be even messier than having seperate threads for each update.
This is a troll thread seeing as how 3 GMF/oify folks tagged along within the first 3 minutes of the thread being posted. so retro lol XD (User was banned for this post ("Thinks this is a troll thread - shitpost" - Craptasket))
No no and no. You wont be able to keep track of all the updates in one thread with all the posting going on, and it would be even messier than having seperate threads for each update.
Lol you just disagreed but then got behind his reason why you big GOOBER
Well I don't have nothing against merging some threads, but update threads are good.
When I see a date on a new thread title it brings joy to my heart(only to be disappointed later by the content) but its still worth it
Slam all the "WIP map" threads into each other, call the resulting pile a mapping megathread Slam "pricecheck" into "unusual trading", since those are where the e-high rollers/entrepreneurs frequent Slam "Items for games" into the general trading thread Smash "Things that you hate in TF2 (mspaint)" and "Things you love in TF2 (mspaint)" together, make it a general mspaint about TF2 thread If those fifty thousand raffle threads come back again, smash them together and call it raffle central Keep update threads, but only for "big" updates. Small updates are then talked about in either the tail end of the last update thread or in general chat; Threads where even the thread starter himself basically admits "No content this time but I'm posting anyway" are burned to the ground and the space it occupied salted.

no!!!!!! don't merge the unusual trading and trading threads.
Keep update threads, but only for "big" updates.
Like huge updates having their own dedicated discussion, I like that, that will be considered. [editline]31st July 2011[/editline]
no!!!!!! don't merge the unusual trading and trading threads.
Wasn't planning to [editline]31st July 2011[/editline]
How can you ban this guy and not this:
What about Performula's post
How can you ban this guy and not this:
Does the "XD" part somehow discredit my post? Does it bother you? I AM SO SORRY, GOD FORBID I DO THAT AGAIN.
Does the "XD" part instantly discredit my post? I AM SO SORRY, GOD FORBID I DO THAT AGAIN.
You don't even post in here. You shouldn't even get a say on the matter.
B...but New update threads were like Christmas mornin'
I do not like the idea of an Update megathread though. Merging threads though, I'm fine with.
You don't even post in here. You shouldn't even get a say on the matter.
Oh so if I post agreeing with Crap, it's a bannable offense because I don't post here enough? You are one big GOOBER...
I for one is fine with locking old update threads, and keeping the update threads seperated. How am I supposed to know with just a glance if there's a new update out, or if people are just DRAMAing up the update megathread. Like they are this thread.
I do not like the idea of an Update megathread though. Merging threads though, I'm fine with.
Seems to be the concurring opinion, hint hint.
You don't even post in here. You shouldn't even get a say on the matter.
If you aren't one of my gay retard friends you should, to put it frankly, get the hell lost.
And to no surprise a thread that involves GMF/Oify turns into off-topic nonsense because each one has to back-up the other. Back onto the topic, I kinda enjoy looking in the TF2 section to glance for new update threads. Everything else like the MS Paint threads I'm fine with being combined. (User was permabanned for this post ("Alt of mixshifter" - Craptasket))
Im all for thread merging. But the update threads are fun! I mean without them I probably wouldn't know when theres an update. I mean its always fun to talk about every little thing added and complain and whatnot.
The first rule seems ok but it could be changed just a bit. What if only bigger updates get posted instead of the shitty updates nobody even gives a damn about?
Update threads are the best, you probably only see them as messy as just recently there were three small updates in a row. Updates have never been that often before, and soon it will probably be weeks between updates again.
The first rule seems ok but it could be changed just a bit. What if only bigger updates get posted instead of the shitty updates nobody even gives a damn about?
It's more work for the mod team to differentiate what updates are worth a thread. If we can't settle the first part it's down to us just closing the old ones.
But Craptasket, when you open facepunch, the fun, the joy of seeing the title of "TF2 Update x" is priceless! Please let people to open threads for updates, i don't want to search for 32 pages and cannot discuss about it freely. [editline]31st July 2011[/editline] Look, i don't want to check for the update thread in every new post, okay? Just let it be, tf2 section is clean as condom fuck.
