• The true purpose of the drop cap (and why it's not going away)

Remember, a few months ago, the TF2 devs started capping the drop system to a few items per week - usually around ten. It does not fix idling, and does not advantage casual players, contrary to what they stated. Back then, some people already suspected it was to create some sort of "addiction": everyone would keep coming back each thursday to get their drops of the week. But now, with the arrival of the Mann. Co store, it all comes together: the abysmally low cap is meant to force people to buy items. Because, face it, if it was already hard to find a specific hat or to craft one before, it's even harder now, because the cap has not changed, and you have around 50 more items that you can randomly find... that, and Valve has made some items not craftable (which is another restriction imposed to induce frustration and then buy) You want one of the polycount hats? You have one chance out of seven to find one, and you can try your luck every 4 hours, with a probability of 3%. You want to craft one? Again, one chance out of seven, and assuming you find only weapons and only make metal out of them, it'll take you MONTHS. Oh, and you want one of the new weapons? Let's say, the G.R.U.? Look at all the weapons there are. You now have less probability to find the weapon you want than a hat under the very first drop system. All of this is meant to drive purchases to the store. The "you can find items while playing anyway" is merely bullshit. (User was permabanned for this post ("Breaking TF2 section rules when you're already banned on an alt." - Jimbomcb))
Whatever. There's absolutely no incentive to buy hats and items. You can trade stuff, and find it just as easily.
I challenge you to find someone who will trade away his new weapons and their polycount hats
The point is that they aren't forcing you. You WILL get them eventually. The store is just for those who are impatient.
I challenge you to find someone who will trade away his new weapons and their polycount hats
Give it a month, people will get polycount stuff they don't want.
They are fucking pixels.
This is incredibly stupid. Valve implemented the new drop system to fix idling.
They are fucking pixels.
They are fucking atoms.
The point is that they aren't forcing you. You WILL get them eventually. The store is just for those who are impatient.
Forcing you to do something =/= Making you do something
If you want items, buy them at the store. If you want items without playing, wait for them to drop for you. Makes sense, if you're a person who wants the items real fast, buy them.
This is incredibly stupid. Valve implemented the new drop system to fix idling.
which is a blatant lie :buddy:
which is a blatant lie :buddy:
Why? Idlers get no more drops/week than people who play normally. I'd call that a fix.
Why? Idlers get no more drops/week than people who play normally. I'd call that a fix.
And they also reduced amount of items needed to craft metal.
Why? Idlers get no more drops/week than people who play normally. I'd call that a fix.
People who play a lot get as much items as people who don't
They are just items. Valve has already said that they will make all the "Set Headgear" craftable.
