A KotH map where the point is on a train that moves across the map. The train movement does not depend on point ownership or anything else - it just goes back and forth through three different areas, pausing at each end. To prevent sightline along the track from being too powerful, there are doors between the areas that automatically close off the area that the train is not in. I don't think that building in the 3D skybox looks fitting. Also the BLU overlays are ugly and would do better as a more conventional company logo.
This looks really nice! Props to you for making something in the Upward theme :v: That said, the second screenshot's buildings are really blocky
There doesn't seem to be enough props and interesting buildings, which makes it feel very empty and boring. Add in simple props into corners and do away with flat roofs and it'll look loads better.
The game play looks pretty unique, but the map itself is very bland.
Got a neat idea, but a pretty bland execution of it.
While the gameplay idea itself is very original, I think you need to add more detail. Good work, though!
While the gameplay idea itself is very original, I think you need to add more detail. Good work, though!
I like it when it's that simple. Reminds me of 2009 TF2.
Add some crates, perhaps some windows, and so on. It's not that hard, but gives the map a much better feeling. Still, it's a great idea, it's just the map that needs some work.
The idea of a moving CP is verry cool ! Can be more cool if that train-cp-flatcar get customised a little bit. Add me on Steam if you want to.
That's actually very interesting. Maybe we can make more of these types of maps in the future. Also: Welcome to Facepunch!
I would love a map where the point moves away from you. Like if anyone goes near it, it just starts moving away. Would be gold. You would have to get it in a corner.
It's rather boring, little detail. Just.. doesn't feel right.
Damn good idea, will keep engie's and snipers from being glued to one spot.
Alright, so the consensus is to add more detail (and i was planning to do it already). Thank you all for the feedback!
Dat aliasing, looks good but the screenshots are awful. Makes the map look much, MUCH worse than it propably is. http://www.fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/configs/cfg/getconfig.php?conf=maxquality ^Good Maxquality config, follow the instructions here to install it, don't forget to set the launch options! Then run the game, type "sv_cheats 1", "bind F5 screenshot" and "cl_drawhud 0" in the console, take the screenshots with F5, they'll end up as .tga files in your team fortress 2/tf/screenshots folder. http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Help:Taking_Screenshots Convert the screenshots to .png's in an image editor, upload them to your dropbox and post them here. I'd do it myself but I can't run TF2 at the moment
The maxquality config is nice and all, but I'd bet that if he could run it at those settings, his screenshots wouldn't look so awful in the first place. Nice map, 'twas a bit frustrating when I played but an interesting concept nonetheless.
Do you mind if I try doing a few edits to this? Like add some props to make the map feel less spaced out? (and maybe some other things)

As longs as the config doesn't crash the game he won't need more than like 5 fps to do that. [editline]23rd July 2011[/editline] I could do something like this if you want me to when I get back home in 3 weeks. I assume there will be a few changes to the map anyway
Do you mind if I try doing a few edits to this? Like add some props to make the map feel less spaced out? The map isnt as bland as you guys think. Its just that the screenshots he gave arent that good. I took a few for you, OP. That looks fantastic. Would love to try it with around 15+ people.
Oh I remember playing this map. Was pretty fun and the idea is original.
tbh i do mind, since i'm not finished with the map. it's still WiP and i'd rather finish it myself.
Okay, no problem. :sigh:
Cool stuff goin on in 'ere mmmhmm
Use something other than JPEGs for screenshots, for actual map critiscm, the 1st and 3rd screenshots look awesome and the idea is really unique and could make for some interesting gameplay, I would love, as this is a WIP and all, if once this is finished, for it to become official. As long as you make the map not so bland and add possibly 1-2 more places for the point to go (maybe? depending on gameplay as to whether or not to add 1-2 more places, hell you might have to remove one if it's too hard or something. I'm assuming there are 3 right?). But overall, if you make the map better and less bland, and balance the gameplay a bit, I'd defiantly want to see this official.
You might want to fill up the respawn rooms a bit more

Version B6a released. OP updated with new, better screenshots and download link.
