• Homewrecker idea

So the Homewrecker is seen mostly as a cool item to have but when it comes to logic running at a sentry with a hammer doesn't make all that much sense. So, my idea is to make the pyro weigh more when he has it equipped, therefore making him not being pushed back (as much) when he's attacking a sentry from above or in front. Maybe it should make him walk slower, I dunno, but it's just an idea that'll probably never get used
I just think that we need to wait, because something introduced in the Engineer Update could really make the Homewrecker useful. Only time will tell.
Pushback is hardly the problem, you don't have enough HP to rush a sentry.
That's mostly because you get pushed back too much right?
I don't think rushing a sentry with a melee is a good strategy even if you could go full speed.
-25% dmg from sentries?
-25% dmg from sentries?
Why would a hammer do that?
Why would a hammer do that?
Why would wearing a wooden shield on your left arm make fire hurt you less?
Why would a hammer do that?
Sciences
The only way to fix the homewrecker is to give it to a class that doesn't already have a better weapon for destroying sentry nests. because if you're at melee range, the flamethrower is definitely better.
Trying to bring logic into TF2... Tsk, tsk, tsk... I understand all the hopes that the Engineer Update will maybe make the Homewrecker more useful, but think about it. A lost of people will be using the new Engineer items, but there will still be some using the original ones. Besides, Pyro? Having the Homewrecker? Demoman should have it. [editline]07:00PM[/editline] And not be able to use it with the Targe [editline]07:00PM[/editline] Because that's just shenanigans.
I agree Demo should have it. Pain Train should go to Pyro + Soldier. [editline]11:06PM[/editline] Or better yet. Just give Pain Train to Pyro and give Soldier something different.

I think it should just oneshot buildings. Why would this solve the homewrecker issues? Because it would make the Homewrecker better at the Flamethrower at it's intended purpose, and it would actually have a use other than looking badass. Why would this not be a huge counter to Engineer? Because due to the knockback, you would still only be able to destroy sentries that are badly placed, or with the help of a uber and a medic smart enough to take the knockback for you. This would mean that the only thing homewrecker can do is something you can already do with the flamethrower, only you can now do it faster with the homewrecker. In short, it would still be highly situational, but it would at least be useful for the situation it promotes.
Giving it to the demoman is even worse than giving it to the pyro. The demoman has 3 weapons that are better for destroying buildings than the homewrecker.
Giving it to the demoman is even worse than giving it to the pyro. If anything, she could have an item with small range, but more power. I understand what you mean, but really, giving the Pyro the Homewrecker? Ugh...
Stop trying to fix the Homewrecker goddammit. I use it and i found it more useful since i use my flamer ammo for killing/airblasting the remains of the team.

If Demoman had a weapon specific way of destroying a sentry only within 3 feet of him; and 3 other weapons than can demolish it, the Engineer, and Dispenser without him taking damage, what do you think is going to be better? The weapon that does 65 damage, or the one that does 45?
she
do you know what you've just done
Stop trying to fix the Homewrecker goddammit. I use it and i found it more useful since i use my flamer ammo for killing/airblasting the remains of the team.
It's very useful, but it's just a tag complicated for the Pyro. It also doesn't fit his own role.
Giving it to the demoman is even worse than giving it to the pyro. The demoman has 3 weapons that are better for destroying buildings than the homewrecker.
And the Pyro has one too. Two if you count the long range of the flaregun.
I find the Homewrecker extremely useful when working with Spies. I wait for a spy to sap a building, then run in there with my badass sledgehammer and fuck shit up.
You know, if the Homewrecker could destroy enemy sappers, that would make it pretty balanced. No?
It would make it better [editline]07:47PM[/editline] A lot
You know, if the Homewrecker could destroy enemy sappers, that would make it pretty balanced. No?
As I see it, making the Homewrecker able to destroy sappers is to make the Pyro a better counter against Spies. It would be a nerf to a class that is already very hard to play, and a buff to an area where where it would do Pyro very little good. I would only approve of this idea if the Engineer update somehow made Spy overpowered and Engineer underpowered.
That's always the excuse for anything that attacks the Spy specifically, even slightly.
That's always the excuse for anything that attacks the Spy specifically, even slightly.
Well I simply do not see why Pyro of all classes should have a buff that is only good against Spies. I mean, he's already their #1 counter, if we make him able to remove sappers as well playing Spy will be absolutely terrible.
I'd be nice if the axtinguisher wasn't 100% more useful and badass than the homewrecker. I mean, come on. A dull sledge vs AN AXE with BARBED WIRE and BLOOD splattered over it.
Really, what's wrong with the Spy being a hard class to play? Infact, it may give you a slight advantage over the Pyro the same way it does Engies. Backstab the Pyro while he's whacking the sapper. Make it take like 3-5 hits from the Homewrecker, maybe.
