Is idling bannable? - Games

I've idled for a few nights now and gotten some items. But this morning, when I killed myself twice hoping to get my items, I got nothing. So I hopped on to my favorite server, died and BAM, 8 NEW ITEMS ACQUIRED. The chat box filled with spam. Everyone was like lol idling and o_o. Then there was one cool guy who was like "REPORTED". So, I ask you after I idle, is idling bannable? I didn't use any third party programs. I'd go on an idle server, spectate, and just leave the window open overnight.

Wait, weren't you aware of it? Valve said that they would disable the account of everyone who idles, if that guy reports you, then you're pretty much screwed... Nah just kidding. :v: Technically, you're playing the game and not using any third party program, so Valve has no reason to ban you.

Idling is fucking bannable. Remember what happened last time when someone tried to idle,he lost all his items and got VAC'd. It happened to my friend.

You're not allowed to play the game in a way Valve hasn't thought of, it's in the TOS.

Before playing in an actual server I'll pop into an idle server, kill myself, click "Continue playing", then quit and go to the server I originally intended to play.
