Sometimes when I switch servers, it crashes right when I get in, and I'm pretty sure it's the motd that forces the crash. is there a way to disable them?
Yeah, it's under advanced multiplayer options, "disable HTML MOTDs."

I had the same problem but it wasn't the motd it was because I had multicore rendering turned on.
