• Playing TF2 at school

Alright, so at my school I have a lot of free time around the hours of 10 to 1. I figure I'd try TF2 today only to find, to my dismay, that steam is unable to detect any servers or anything at all through the steam network. Now, I'm wondering if there's any way to run steam (And consequently TF2) through a network I have no notable control over. I'll provide any details I can upon request.
Do assigned homework. Save your time.
Ports probably arent open.
Do assigned homework. Save your time.
Even I don't do my homework in my free time. :raise:
Do assigned homework. Save your time.
You misunderstand JUST how much time I have. 3 hours is PLENTY of time to get work done, especially when my 9AM class ends early. At this point, I'm eating an early lunch and trying to play games.
password
To the network? Don't have one. I only have my general school login and that stays with me. :s
It's probably proxy settings screwing it up, I had the same problem with portable firefox.
Who gives a dong, just socialize or something. Also I doubt you can get Steam running in school.
I think I have a friend who managed to get steam working on any network, I don't know how far he got with it though. I'll ask him tomorrow.
You need to go through trouble to do something in school computers. In my school it's impossible to install stuff and admin is password-protected. I just wander around and see what others are doing and socialize.

Don't you have book or something other than games? I usually have 2 to 3 hours of freetime, but I'll usually read news on the computer class or study. I doubt that you will get the steam running on School.
The last time I tried doing something like this at my university steam would outright refuse to log me in and I would have to start it up in offline mode :saddowns: they also block popular IM programs like msn and skype, god damn nazis
The only way is to boot steam from a flash drive with your steamapps folder on it I believe.
Well I'm on a laptop. I'm able to run about 4/5 of all the net-based programs I try. it's just a big 5 when Steam doesn't work. I'm just annoyed that I can't play me some TF2.

That's pretty quick for a forum thread.
Oh god dammit godwin. And this was about a g'dang game, too.
