• Burn too weak?

On beginning of tf2, pyro had a function, set people on fire and retreat and on developer commentary the burn effect was suppose to disorient the player. But after soo many updates, unlocks, nerfs and boosts, set people on fire and retreat hardly works, pyros can extinguish his teammates all at once. soldier now can spam some black box rockets regen enough to survive, or use equalizer to run to a health pack demoman with targe lower the damage and he can charge to a health nearby. heavy uses sandivichs. medics, with their syringegun, have a regen rate that almost nullify the effect, on critical scenarios can use kritz taunt. scouts can use bonk and the milk either to drain health from a target or throwing it on himself snipers got jarate. the screen effect is very subtle, when devs thought it would disorient the player, the bleed effect do it way better than burn effect. i think it shuold be quicker doing same damage but on less time.... what fellow facepunchers think?
Backburner serves the purpose of the original Flamethrower just fine in my opinion. But the use of the Pyro has significantly changed.
The burn effect has gone from being a crowd deterrent to simply a DoT to weaken enemies to be killed with the shotty/flare, airblast, or the axe/axetinguisher. The backburner still has the ability to break up crowds with amazing efficiency when used in an ambush situation.
BB is excellent with fire damage.
BB is excellent with fire damage.
Which bugs me terribly. Isn't the Back-Burner supposed to be meant for ambushing? If it does all around more damage for fire, and due to the fact that not everyone is good a air-blasting, it makes it a pure-upgrade.
This is what makes the Degreaser (the -25% damage is on the afterburn, not the direct flame) the straight upgrade it is. Afterburn is so negligible already that it doing less damage makes pretty much no impact, and you get the full benefit of the fast weapon switch.
Anyone else find the only way to tell if they are on fire or not is by listening to their player say "FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE OH MY GOD I AM ON FIRE!"?
Despite the extinguishing effects (which yes, are fucking everywhere) the Backburner does take over the role of the original flamethrower. And it also gives backstabs :) [editline]13th October 2010[/editline]
Anyone else find the only way to tell if they are on fire or not is by listening to their player say "FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE OH MY GOD I AM ON FIRE!"?
The fire effects around the screen?
valve should buff the flamethrower,Common, jarate, mediguns, healthpacks, water, milk, sandvichs, almost everything can put off the flames

But you're correct, it's not a damage dealer anymore.
The fire effects around the screen?
There are fire effects on the screen? never have noticed.
There are fire effects on the screen? never have noticed.
It's very noticable, I think competitive players remove it for one reason or another. You either have a custom HUD installed that removes it or your graphics card doesn't support it or something. ^ Yeah but how often does that make a difference if you arn't a Sniper.

If that annoying Scout wants to be a little bitch and pester me while I'm on patrol, then run away when I light him up, he can frantically try and make it to the water before burning to death. And for good measure, he's getting buckshot in the ass while he speeds away. Also good to take the last few HP off all of those retarded Medics who use the Blutsauger when pocket healing and NEVER ACTUALLY SHOOT ANYONE.

Usually it goes like this: Blut vs Backburner - Both die, or blut outdamages. Blut vs Flamer - Flamer damages about halfway, blut outdamages. Blut vs Degreaser - Blut outdamages degreaser, Medic suffers minimal damage.
You realize what I said was in response to that right?
You mean the never actually shoot anyone part? Where the Medic can't actually out-damage anything since he's not actually shooting the Pyro, or anyone else for that matter?
You mean the never actually shoot anyone part? Where the Medic can't actually out-damage anything since he's not actually shooting the Pyro, or anyone else for that matter?
What about the Kritzkreig?

I have a feeling it will get nerfed.
Except using the Blutsauger lets you outdamage the Backburner even.
The Degreaser is just awesome. I have a feeling it will get nerfed. Airblast changes everything.
Airblast is a good sidegrade to pure deadly damage IMO, and I don't think the Degreaser needs a nerf as much as the Flamer needs a buff.
You're forgetting Spies with Dead Ringers: It provides a hefty damage resistance boost that allows them to get to a medkit with that much more health.
You're forgetting Spies with Dead Ringers: It provides a hefty damage resistance boost that allows them to get to a medkit with that much more health.
HAHAHAHA No. Pyros will now airblast you into a wall until your cloak runs out, then hit you with the Axtinguisher.
You're forgetting Spies with Dead Ringers: It provides a hefty damage resistance boost that allows them to get to a medkit with that much more health.
didnt considered it, because most times, spy get burned and pyro chases him until death, but yea still another way to extinguish
What about the Kritzkreig?
Most don't use it, and most of the ones that do don't know the taunt heals. The few that do, well, I'll get them later. They've got to come back in SOME time. Also, parting buckshot volley as I chase them until they're around a corner. Sometimes doesn't give them enough time to get where they feel safe enough to taunt.
Well, at least some pyros have to think instead of chargin' in with w+m1.
the problem boost burn damage, when his is fighting the dps of pyro would increase too..
