After the bloodrending clashes that have happened between the idlers and (so called) high road moralists, I've thought, should the halo simply be removed?
YOU CAN SKIP THIS PART
I know what valve thought with the incorporation of the halo. They thought that the community was mature. They thought wrong.
Getting your hats and unlocks taken away is torture enough. Should people be forced to see others wearing marks of fortune given to people that didn't become poor and irish? This simply creates a prejudiced rage at the other group. I, personally, prefer the idlers, as the non idlers seem to be the first to flame.
In summary, the halo has done nothing more than to give pubbers a nice shiny target, and divide the tf2 community into two separate groups, with people and servers like me crouching in a foxhole in the no-mans land, hoping that shells and bullets from either side don't penetrate our sanctuary. So, has valve's little joke ended up hurting the community?
I was fine with the halo until I started seeing servers ban people for not having them.
They should be replaced by the so-called random hat ASAP
Yes, or give a sort of repent for the separation of the community.
What the hell at above.
Honestly, i don't care. I didn't get a halo but it doesn't make a difference. Big deal i didn't get a hat, it's not like there are 20 others.

Yah like giving back the money we spent on all these updates!

Hmm, yes, that is a good idea. But valve still wants hats to be something special, and with more than half the tf2 community running around with hats, hats will NOT be anything special anymore.
I only got a shitty batting helmet man what.
I think it's hilarious that us "moral" people got something special. It means that valve has a positive attitude towards it's players. Any other company would have just screwed the cheaters, and done nothing to those that chose not to cheat. because lets face it if you've payed any attention to the game since the new unlock system, you knew about the cheat and could have done it. So everyone that got the hat was either not actively playing during that time, or CHOSE not to use the idler program. I think that's the big thing here, almost everybody that plays the game made the choice to cheat or not. At the time that everyone chose, there was no indication that there would be any punishment, or if they could even catch you. So those that chose not to cheat did so because they either feared future punishmint, or would just rather EARN the items.
My main point is this though, what would you rather have valve do:
Punish those that cheated, by either removing their items, or banning them while playing.
or
Punish them by removing items, and turning the whole thing into a joke by adding a funny item.
Maybe I'm just weird but I think I'd rather have a company that makes light of things like this instead of one that just rules with an iron hammer and ignores those that don't do anything bad.

I was on that server last night.
Hat of free choice would do.
If they gave everyone who has a halo an actual hat, hats would become as common as halos.
i wish valve made devil horns for all the idlers like me... that would be awesome
Give the halo wearers a free random hat, just to end the retarded discrimination.
or give everyone the halo.
Why the fuck would Valve "remove" it.
i wish valve made devil horns for all the idlers like me... that would be awesome
No, that would be stupid. That's rewarding the idlers. You guys don't deserve shit.

What about removing their items and leaving that shit to be?
Shut the fuck up about the halos and idler, jesus fucking christ
You idled, we didn't. Get over it. And no, why shouldn't we keep our halos, just because we didn't cheat doesn't mean we don't want hats.
They should get rid of them in a few months, they look kinda silly and don't really fit with the game.

Staying in an idle server = Using the idle program.
Only difference is that the idle program is a thirdparty program, and I think it was ok of Valve to say that we shouldn't use them, still, I had already planned trades for my Stash and Glengarry Bonnet
I just feel wronged by valve because I simply looked at the idler program to see what it was.
No halo for me, even though I'm a "Moralist". I guess valve didn't really think it through.

It's a nice thought, but I highly doubt that all the active players who didn't idle were aware of it. More likely, those with halos didn't actually know about the idler. Admittedly there were some that chose not to - I would say congrats for taking the "moral high road" but fuck off, it's a game, go help a granny cross the road.
All the halos are going to do is serve as a permanent marker and reminder of this not-so-good part of TF2's history. Valve should have given a temporary benefit/item and then let the whole issue rest.
I'm fine with a Halo but it annoys me when people start boasting and are so full of themselves for having one. It also annoys me when people ban you for NOT having a Halo and medics who only heal people with Halos.
That's not saying the people who didn't get Halos aren't stupid as well. There's banning for people having Halos, server plug-ins that block people from using it in game, Non-Halo Healing Medics, etc. Both sides in this whole community splitting are utterly retarded. I'm neutral on it but this bullshit needs to stop. It's just a stupid hat for fucks sake. Go back to what the game is supposed to be about: Having fun.

The idler was talked about on all game forums, how could you not have heard about it?
no

If you play TF2 but don't go on game forums.
:rolleye:
Halos are ugly.
Halos are ugly.
Agreed. They clash with everything TF2, and for me they only mark a reminder that VALVE fucked me over, whilst others nag me about cheating that I never did.

It was also talked about on a lot of TF2 servers.
