Argh the annoyance is pissing me off. I get a lag spike every 3 - 7 minutes that lasts 2 - 4 seconds and it's really annoying as every time this happens I have a 86% chance of DYING all the time. Now I don't know why but this only started occuring since Valve just updated TF2 5 days ago (I was idling when this came out, so I only went back on yesterday and was enraged at the pure lag spikes) and it's just...argh, so annoying. Has no-one else been experiencing this? It just happens randomnly, I did a test on spectator in Create Server (basically Single Player) and it was confirmed that I was randomnly getting lag spikes for no reason. I just sat it in one place with a moving thing like water, and it seemed to stutter, like lag effects do, and then go back to normal for a while. Now what the hell did Valve just do, because this has seriously pushed me a bit hard and it's too annoying to play. This is sort-of my percentage of what it was like: Before 21/08/2009 update: Kills - 7 pm (average) Deaths - 1 - 3 pm (average) After 21/08/2009 update: Kills - 1/2 pm Deaths - 2 - 5 pm (depending on respawn times) Before 21/08/2009 update: Survival time - 5 - 20 minutes (average) After 21/08/2009 update: Survival time - 1 - 6 minutes (sometimes more than 10 because I have to run out with my lagging ass out of the spawn and run into some random enemy)
yeah, ive been getting my FPS lowered fromt he usual 30 to about 5 in that sort of timeframe recently.
Oh thank god I'm not the only one.
Oh yes. Oh god yes. You're not the only one. Every minute I get a lag spike. It always happens at the worst time. Like when a spy saps my sentry, when I backstab someone, when I get an ubercharge, and all that terrible shit. Sometimes it lasts so long that I time out and get kicked.
Yeah i also get major stuttering since this new update, comes and goes though. TF2 must be too much for my GTX 285 to handle, think i'll have to stick to crysis wars on max settings as it runs better.
Update: Went on TF2. Didn't change. I deleted some stuff that could be causing it, just looks like Valve did something and fucked up some players 'cause I'm lagging worse than a DVD! This happens to me on occasion on all source games, rebooting my router fixes it for some obscure reason. I think it's a network thing. Might not be the same thing but the way you're describing it sounds exactly the same.

yes! i lag on gmod and css though aswell, not only tf2
I rated you a tool.
lol. Well, it happens to me randomly, at first i thought it was engineer buildings that caused it, but gets worse the longer i play tf2, after 3 hours it got pretty bad.
Started happening to me too today. Kinda sucks, really. Send an email to valve, I guess?
Valve don't respond to my emails :/
I used to get 200+ fps, now I get 40-50.
I thought I was alone. :c
Yeah, the FPS loss for me isn't major; but loading and lag spikes are the annoying part.
Only lag I get is when I switch weapons it goes back to the gun I just switched from.
Oh god yes me too! Every update dropped my fps a little but this update was the mass loss of my fps, now I get 5-10 fps I play, and I lag all the time, and somewhy I lag on CSS now too, and it never did.
When the game came out: High settings, 1600x1200, and around a good constant of 60fps. Now: Medium-Low settings, 1024x768, and struggling to keep 30-40fps. Fuck you, Valve. v:
Yeah, the FPS loss for me isn't major; but loading and lag spikes are the annoying part.
A little off topic, but is anyone else having a long loading at "Retrieving Resources"? Every time I join a server that takes the longest, it's really annoying in Arena when I have to wait out cause I joined too late due to that annoying long load.

must be my fail processor
Am i the only one whos preformance has increased?
^ Fuck you D:
The only thing I get is alot of lag every now and then are huge lag spikes. Goes from 80's, to 200, 300 and it has once gone up to 400+ Dunno about fps drops, since the pc is new, and I get from 60 lowest to almost 300.
I knew I wasn't the only one with decreasing performance. When the first version came out, I ran on max settings, with all the good shit, and I was getting upwards of 60 FPS. My performance was slowly decreasing, until now where I get 9-12 FPS at all low settings. I defragged like six times, but to no avail. My loading times have increased dramatically, too.
Am i the only one whos preformance has increased?
Oddly enough my fps increased a bit after this update
We need to get the attention of Valve. I say we all e-mail Gabe. We could keep the same title for each e-mail so he won't just look at one and ignore it.
Email him with "My Game is running slower since 21/08/2009!"? [editline]08:05PM[/editline] Or replace Game with TF2
Sounds good, should we stick with Gabe or should we e-mail Robin instead?
gabe, hes bigger, more to share
