magical medals?

so i just boot up tf2 to test out my medals

and i happen to have gotten the bronze one so i equip it on all classes. yet on the loadout model, it appears as if it was the gold medal. wat

ps: when i look at my medal ingame, it looks silver. what??? is anyone else having this problem or am i one of the rare ones with the magic multimaterial badge?

It's the same bug, reverting to the default skin upon death. Usually the default skin is red, in this case it's gold.
