I'm just wondering if there's a mod that shows your points near the center of your screen as you get them, or if this is even possible to mod without having VAC all over your ass.
It would be pretty gratifying to see points popping up as you go on a killing spree.
HLStatsX does this pretty well. Though I don't know why you would ever want to treat TF2 as serious business; it's a cartoony, fun shooter. If you want a game that revolves around instant headshots, no respawns, and kill-death ratios being treated as a sacred document, then buy Counter-Strike: Source.
He said it would be gratifying, not srsbsns

HLStatsX sucks.

HLStatsX sucks and takes up the chat.
What I'm talking about is like, you kill someone and about two inches above your crosshair or something, you see "+2" appear, then disappear quickly. Nothing too complicated.
And no, TF2 isn't serious business, I just think it would be gratifying. [sp]Like I mentioned in the OP..[/sp] :jerkbag:
This is a decent idea. I dont know if it can be done though at least not clientside.
That's a great idea. I've always wanted to see exactly how many points everything I do is worth. I could always go to TF2Wiki, look it all up, and memorize it, but where's the fun in that?

It'd also be cool if it showed you your rank on your team. Just a single number like "#1" or "#10".

I must have read the OP wrong, because that actually sounds pretty interesting.

Yea that's what got me thinking of this. I never really know how many points what I do is worth.
I just bound the scoreboard to "alt", that way I don't have to move my hand much to look at the scores
Yea that's what got me thinking of this. I never really know how many points what I do is worth, and like I said, it would be nice seeing a bunch of points pop up on your screen when you're raping the other team.
When you say this I picture a Pyro flaming all them to death, and each point count above their heads flies to some corner of the HUD to accumulate in total points earned before moving offscreen.

Exactly, it would be pretty sweet. I don't know, seems like something only valve could implement, or some serious modder.
hmmm this would be awesome
i love the effect on resistance 2 when it shows your exp gained when you kill something
white text means you got the assist and red text means you got the final blow ;)
i want a mod that does such for tf2

Not possible with mods, it would require much DLL/EXE modding, which VAC breaks.
I imagined something like the green number that comes up when you blutsauger someone.
I'd like to see my points in a life. I'm always trying to beat my records.

on the xbox
This might be possible as the score is just a string that needs to be called, only catch is making a way to call it, it might be possible through editing the HUD res files and creating a new content area and having the string called into that area.
Possible, but tricky, I'll see if I can get anywhere with it.
I guess I was wrong, I got as far as making a new section on the hud which will display your score, but the hitch is that it wont label it, instead it just goes [unknown]...
I'd love it.
This would be great. Kinda like how in Modern Warfare it shows the points you earn... satisfying, and helpful.
I wished for this in l4d... But tf2 would be greeaaat
