I'm not crying about a hat, i'm just really disappointed that my account got flagged for something they didn't have an existing rule for and something they could have stopped shortly after it got started with just a blog post months ago.

I never even got a hat, so it doesn't bother me much. They just should have gave a warning to stop using the idler before they took the items.

Before I say anything else, I was also flagged. They did what was right, they took back what we didn't rightfully earn. It's not them making the drama, it's you guys crying of a model on top of your head.

The problem isn't that they took the items. It's not even the halo, not totally.
The main problem is the way they decided to handle the idler situation- namely, by waiting several months to say anything and then, after everybody's assumed that they'd have already said something if they didn't approve of the idler, suddenly deeming idlers cheaters.
I'm not crying about my hats. I understand why they removed the items and think that it's within their rights to do so. I just think that the whole situation could have been avoided if they had said something back when people first started idling.

How we're they supposed to do it then? If they made a blog post telling people not to cheat, no one would pay attention.
Valve is like the nice supply teacher you took advantage of in school, until one day they've enough crap and they snap on you. Then you know not to mess with them again.

Actually, if they made a blog post that said "We consider third party idling applications cheating and will punish you for using them" back when the idler first came out, Drunken_F00l, the guy who created the idler, would have stopped it immediately.

I was also flagged (no duh, right?), and only lost dupes. I didn't even have the problem most people got concerning missing unlockables, since I always kept the originals. I should know by now not to post in all these threads, but it's just that Valve is trollin' everyone to the point where people are leaving TF2. That is not a good sign.

Then why do people still hack on VAC protected servers in Counter-Strike? Just cause they say "Don't cheat" doesn't mean people won't.
I find it ironic that they're talking so much shit about the idling when their own employees are going around with overpowered unlocks pissing people off.
I could care less about the halos, hats, and other idling bullshit but this was kind of funny to me/

If they made a blog post telling people they viewed the idler program which i'm positive they knew about hours after it's inception the vast majority would not have "cheated" and Drunken F00l would have taken the download down.
