Hey!
Upland is a 5 point attack/defend map with the same format as Steel, made by myself, Mark "honeymustard" Sinclair and Dan "IrishTaxiDriver" Merboth.
I'm looking to wrap up development on it now (it's pretty much finished now), so am posting it around a bit to get some feedback, outside of the usual places (TF2maps..)

Any feedback would be much appreciated!
I'm liking the whole lowering-platform idea for the last point. Bloody good job, I say.
In the third image the ship looks out of place in the background.
Awesome work though.
Valve Official Map now.
Another amazing map.
I honestly thought this was a reskin of Upward at first sight. :v:
Either way, I just have a little thing that bugs me graphically speaking: the sun lighting could be a tad brighter and less orangey (less saturated maybe)?
Other than that, [del]10/10[/del] 11/10
I look forward to playing this map with a group of competent players. It looks like fun, I just hope that people don't get lost on upland like they do on steel in spite of all the arrows telling them which direction to go.
Sounds cool.

The ship could be a bit smaller and more cartoony
Anyways, it's a pretty nice map and I'm glad to see more steel-like maps
Any servers hosting this?

I think he means the fact that it's not in water but the desert.

There's a massive river there, but the screenshot doesn't really capture it.

http://tf2stats.net/map/cp_upland_rc2 I think this keeps track of when it's being played, might not be entirely accurate though.

Oh alright. Thanks for enlightening me.
There was an intro video for it, yes?

Bad reading x 1

yah just realized sorry
Oh my god, the platform lowering thing is so clever.
Looks extremely promising, can't wait to play it.
Imo the idea is really clever, but presently it doesnt look really nice. the platforms moving should look more like piston, going one inside the other
Man, all these awesome maps lately. Makes me feel bad about my terrible mapping skill.
The points have an outline glow? Valve need to use that feature in game!
Looks like a combination of a bunch of maps that are already in existence. This one looks pretty cool though.
Hot.
Great map there! The lowering platform for the last point is pretty sweet!
Looks great. Steel is a really underrated map too, mostly because nobody plays it enough to learn their way around. It's the biggest map in the game, so it might take more than one play.
I don't think Valve even has Steel in the rotation of any of their official servers.
Or Junction, but that makes more sense.

No Community maps are in the Valve server rotations
my main complaint with steel is that it's too easy to just suddenly scout jump onto E as long as no one is paying attention, I probably should download this first but the way that one looks seems like that problem won't occur on this map.

It's possible for scouts to get on it from the get go, but the jumps there are tricky (you can't just jump straight up from the platform). Once each point is capped, it gets easier.
And thanks for the lovely feedback so far.
Great job! Love it.
Wow, that's pretty damn good. I envy thee!
Also, I cannot be the only one who thought of Pokemon types when they read "Steel type" in the title...

I never thought about it before, but... I think that's true. The A/D servers only play Gorge, Dustbowl, and Gravelpit, and the PL servers don't play Hoodoo... wtf Valve?

Strange, but they do run Mann Manor, which would be the only exception to that rule. Perhaps they want Valve-only maps on Valve-only servers?
Anyway, awesome map OP. Can't wait to play on it with some other players, anybody know of any servers running it? Also, haveyou already posted it on TF2maps.net?
