Attempting to play back demos results in TF2 freezing

I'm pretty sure that pre-update demos tend to become unplayable, but this is a demo I recorded when I wanted to test out the heavy after his buffs, yet it still won't play properly. TF2 just freezes.

Is this something that will end up being resolved over time or is there something I can do to solve it myself?

Yes, TF2 crashes when attempting to play a demo from pre-update.

you cant play old demos, every time tf2 updates it fucks them up.
